A navigated, robot-driven laser craniotomy tool for frameless depth electrode implantation. An in-vivo recovery animal study

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI
Objectives: We recently introduced a frameless, navigated, robot-driven laser tool for depth electrode implantation as an alternative to frame-based procedures. This method has only been used in cadaver and non-recovery studies.

The effects of pentoxifylline adminstration on fracture healing in a postmenopausal osteoporotic rat model

open access: yesLaboratory Animal Research, 2017
Previous studies report positive effects of pentoxifylline (PTX) alone or in combination with other drugs on some pathologic bone diseases as well as an ability to accelerate osteogensis and fracture healing in both animal models and human patients.

Early Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Stimulation on Proximal Tibial Circular Osteotomy Site Enhanced Heterotopic Skin Wound Healing via Small Extracellular Vesicles

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A schematic diagram of the mechanism where small extracellular vesicles mediate the enhancement of heterotopic wound healing by radial extracorporeal shockwave stimulation at a proximal tibial osteotomy site. ABSTRACT Wound healing represents a complex biological process necessitating innovative therapeutic approaches, particularly for chronic wounds ...

Biocompatibility and healing patterns in experimentally induced canine tibial fractures using Pedicle screw‐Rod external fixation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that using a Pedicle screw‐Rod configuration for the external fixation of non‐articular tibial osteotomy aligns well with the principles of biological osteosynthesis, resulting in secondary bone healing characterized by callus formation and neovascularization.

Management of post‐implant fibrous dysplasia in the maxilla: A case study

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Fibrous dysplasia is generally rare, and even rarer in older adults. Special care is needed when altering the alveolar bone in these cases, especially if an implant is involved. This case study highlights such a scenario. Methods This case study details the experience of a 63‐year‐old African American female who presented with a ...

Posterior hemivertebra resection and reconstruction for the correction of old AO type B2.3 thoracic fracture kyphosis: A case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Surgery, 2022
BackgroundPost-traumatic malunion is one of the main causes of kyphosis and usually has serious consequences. We report a case of kyphosis caused by an old AO type B2.3 thoracic fracture, which was corrected with posterior hemivertebra resection and ...

Guided transpositional bone blocks in esthetic zone: Surgical technique and case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The ultimate objective of implant dentistry is to position the implant in a three‐dimensional, prosthetic‐driven location. This case highlights a guided approach for harvesting and positioning an autogenous bone block to restore a horizontal bone defect in the anterior maxilla.

Performance and safety evaluation of a cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome (CARLO) in 28 midface osteotomies

open access: yesScientific Reports
The CARLO (cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome) is a compact device with integrated multiple sensory, steering and safety checking elements. A multi-center study was performed to evaluate the CARLO device for the linear part of midface osteotomy ...
