Biocompatibility and healing patterns in experimentally induced canine tibial fractures using Pedicle screw‐Rod external fixation

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that using a Pedicle screw‐Rod configuration for the external fixation of non‐articular tibial osteotomy aligns well with the principles of biological osteosynthesis, resulting in secondary bone healing characterized by callus formation and neovascularization.

New technologies in rhinoplasty : a comprehensive workflow for computer-assisted planning and execution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Rhinoplasty in facial cleft patients is among the most challenging types of reconstructive facial surgery due to its variability Advances in 3-dimensional imaging enable improved preoperative assessment in rhinoplasty.

Characterization of a reproducible model of fracture healing in mice using an open femoral osteotomy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Purpose: The classic fracture model, described by Bonnarens and Einhorn in 1984, enlists a blunt guillotine to generate a closed fracture in a pre-stabilized rodent femur.

Morphology of the dysplastic hip and the relationship with sex and acetabular version

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
Abstract The dysplastic hip is characterized by incomplete coverage of the femoral head, resulting in increased risk of early osteoarthritis. The morphological variation of the hip joint is diverse and clear differences exist between females and males.

Distal Tibial Tuberosity Arc Osteotomy in Open-Wedge Proximal Tibial Osteotomy to Prevent Patella Infra

open access: yesArthroscopy Techniques, 2019
Open-wedge high tibial osteotomy is considered to be an effective surgical intervention for medial compartmental knee osteoarthritis. However, patella infra, which has been reported to be a result of tuberosity distalization after open-wedge high tibial ...

Performance and safety evaluation of a cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome (CARLO) in 28 midface osteotomies

open access: yesScientific Reports
The CARLO (cold ablation robot-guided laser osteotome) is a compact device with integrated multiple sensory, steering and safety checking elements. A multi-center study was performed to evaluate the CARLO device for the linear part of midface osteotomy ...

Growth Plate Injuries of the Lower Extremity: Case Examples and Lessons Learned. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BackgroundThe presence of growth plates at the ends of long bones makes fracture management in children unique in terms of the potential risk of developing angular deformities and growth arrest.Materials and methodsWe discuss three distinct cases ...

Three‐dimensional assessment of subchondral arc and hip joint coverage angles in the asymptomatic young adult hip

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
Abstract The primary objective of this study was to develop a custom algorithm to assess three‐dimensional (3D) acetabular coverage of the femoral head based on surface models generated from computed tomography (CT) imaging. The secondary objective was to apply this algorithm to asymptomatic young adult hip joints to assess the regional 3D acetabular ...

Comparison of osseointegration in piezoimplants versus cylindrical implants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
BACKGROUND: Dental implants have been successful for the restoration of edentulous areas, but current techniques are inadequate in areas lacking sufficient bone volume. Piezoelectric surgery has shown encouraging effects on both osseous healing.
