Ridge Splitting Technique for Horizontal Augmentation and Immediate Implant Placement

open access: yesBalkan Journal of Dental Medicine, 2014
Insufficient width of the alveolar ridge often prevents ideal implant placement. Guided bone regeneration, bone grafting, alveolar ridge splitting and combinations of these techniques are used for the lateral augmentation of the alveolar ridge.

Complete Cranial Iliac Osteotomy to Approach the Lumbosacral Foramen

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2017
An approach using a complete cranial iliac osteotomy (CCIO) to access the lumbosacral (LS) foramen in dogs from lateral was developed using cadavers and applied in a clinical patient with degenerative lumbosacral stenosis (DLSS).

The history, evolution and basic science of osteotomy techniques

open access: yesStrategies in Trauma and Limb Reconstruction, 2017
Osteotomy techniques date back to Hippocrates circa 415 BC (Jones Hippocrates collected works I, Harvard University Press, Cambridge, 2006; Brorson in Clin Orthop Relat Res 467(7):1907–1914, 2009).

Perigraftitis treatment and histology: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Currently, the two diagnoses of inflammatory peri‐implant diseases are peri‐implant mucositis and peri‐implantitis. The etiology of peri‐implant mucositis and peri‐implantitis is bacterial colonization of the implant. Thus, removal of the implant should eliminate the infection and allow the inflammation to resolve. However, at least

A rare mental foramen variation and the role of cone‐beam computed tomography in preventing nerve injury: A case report

open access: yesClinical Advances in Periodontics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The interforaminal space is frequently used for dental implant placement due to its strategic location between the bilateral mental foramina. However, neurosensory disturbances following surgical intervention near the mental foramen (MF) can occur in up to 43% of cases.

Double-Blind Comparison of Ultrasonic and Conventional Osteotomy in Terms of Early Postoperative Edema and Ecchymosis.

open access: yesAesthetic surgery journal, 2016
BACKGROUND Edema and ecchymosis are common complications of rhinoplasty. Modifications to osteotomy may reduce edema and ecchymosis and ameliorate postoperative discomfort in patients who undergo rhinoplasty.

Knöchelosteotomie – Die Osteotomie als Zugang [PDF]

open access: yesDer Orthopäde, 2013
Both arthroscopic and open surgical techniques may be used for treatment of osteochondral lesions of the ankle joint. Osteotomy around the ankle joint is a well established technique to extend the approach in cases where the osteochondral lesions are located more posteriorly.

In Silico Modeling of Safe Force Limits for Trismus Therapy Following Jaw Reconstruction

open access: yesHead &Neck, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective Restricted mouth opening (trismus) is a common complication following segmental mandibulectomy and autologous bone reconstruction. However, the biomechanical limits of reconstructed mandibles, particularly in cases without bone union, remain poorly understood.

Four Pharmacogenomic Variants Strongly Linked to Corticosteroid‐Induced Avascular Necrosis in Children with Cancer

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Corticosteroids are effective anti‐cancer agents for treating hematologic malignancies in children. However, avascular necrosis (AVN) is a common and debilitating adverse effect, leading to bone death and impacting long‐term quality of life. This study aimed to uncover the genetic factors contributing to corticosteroid‐induced AVN in a well ...
