Viral Detection and Clinical Disease Features in Pediatric Chronic Rhinosinusitis

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) results from complex host‐environment interactions with microbiome dysbiosis and viral infections postulated to drive inflammation and anatomic remodeling. This study investigates the impact of viral presence on pediatric sinonasal disease and clinical outcomes.

AI‐Enabled Mucus Segmentation in Nasal Endoscopy with State Space and Attention‐Based Modeling

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, Volume 11, Issue 3, June 2026.
We developed SUM‐MucusNet, an artificial intelligence system for reliable mucus segmentation in nasal endoscopy, designed to overcome challenges from poor image quality and illumination artifacts. The model represents a modest but statistically supported improvement over the next‐best model, achieving a Dice score of 71%. SUM‐MucusNet enables real‐time

EBUS‐Guided Incidental Finding of Pulmonary Vein Thrombosis: A Case Report and Literature Review

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2026.
Pulmonary vein thrombosis (PVT) is an uncommon but potentially fatal condition that is often underdiagnosed due to nonspecific clinical presentation. We report a case of PVT identified incidentally during EBUS, underscoring the potential of this technique to reveal clinically significant vascular abnormalities.

Long‐Term Trends and Variability in Arctic Mixed Layer Depth

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract The Arctic surface mixed layer is an important moderator of the transfer of heat, salt, and momentum between the atmosphere and the warmer, more saline water that enter the Arctic Ocean from the North Pacific and North Atlantic oceans. However, prior observational studies of trends in mixed layer depth produce seemingly conflicting results due

Patient‐reported outcome measures of percutaneous nephrostomy vs JJ stent in obstructive urolithiasis: results of the STent Or NEphrostomy (STONE) randomised controlled trial

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 137, Issue 6, Page 1088-1096, June 2026.
Objective To compare the effects of percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) and JJ ureteric stent (JJ) for urinary tract decompression in patients with obstructive urolithiasis on health‐related quality of life (HRQoL), pain scores, urinary symptoms, and patient satisfaction.
