The Myriotrema wightii group (Ostropales, Ascomycota) in Australia
Five species of Myriotrema morphologically defined by an epiphloedal, bulging, rather thick thallus, immersed to semi-emergent, perithecioid ascomata with tiny to moderately open ostiola, a whitish- translucent pore region and brown, muriform to submuriform ascospores are accepted in Australia: M. elachistoteron (Leight.) The halotolerant fungus Glomerobolus gelineus is a member of the Ostropales
Mycological Research, 2006Glomerobolus gelineus is a halotolerant species with a unique method of ballistic propagation. The absence of both sexual and asexual spores made reliable placement of this species, based on morphology alone, within the current fungal classification problematical.

Are there Lichenized Ostropales?
The Lichenologist, 1998AbstractOstropales, in a wide sense, currently encompasses Ostropales s. str., with a few lichenized genera, and Graphidales, most of which are lichenized. Conotrema is the only lichenized genus undoubtedly placed in Ostropales s. str. We have sequenced the 18S rRNA gene from some key taxa to answer the questions as to whether one ortwo orders should ...

The phylogenetic placement of Ostropales within Lecanoromycetes (Ascomycota) revisited
Mycological Research, 2007Results of molecular studies regarding the phylogenetic placement of the order Ostropales and related taxa within Lecanoromycetes were thus far inconclusive. Some analyses placed the order as sister to the rest of Lecanoromycetes, while others inferred a position nested within Lecanoromycetes.
