External debt and capital flight in Nigeria: Is there a revolving door?

open access: yesSouth African Journal of Economic and Management Sciences, 2014
Using the residual method of capital flight estimation, this paper estimates Nigerian capital flight over the period 1970 - 2001 and finds a close correlation between external debt and capital flight flows.

POM‐Based Water Splitting Catalyst Under Acid Conditions Driven by Its Assembly on Carbon Nanotubes

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A newly‐engineered POM‐based electrocatalyst incorporating non‐innocent counter cations exhibits fast kinetics for either the OER or HER under strongly acidic conditions (1 m H2SO4), depending on whether it is assembled on carbon nanotubes (1@CNT) or physically mixed with them (1/CNT). In water‐splitting tests using a two‐electrode setup, these systems

Oxytocin makes us trusting but not gullible [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Originally known for its role in childbirth and lactation, oxytocin (OT) has recently proved to play a key role in social behavior. Deprived of OT, humans are unable to recognize and to bond to their peers.

Oblivious Transfer based on Key Exchange

open access: yes, 2007
Key-exchange protocols have been overlooked as a possible means for implementing oblivious transfer (OT). In this paper we present a protocol for mutual exchange of secrets, 1-out-of-2 OT and coin flipping similar to Diffie-Hellman protocol using the ...

Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

BLOC: Buildable and Linkable Organ on a Chip

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
We developed a “Buildable and Linkable Organ on a Chip” (BLOC) that can construct diverse microphysiological systems (MPSs). The BLOC is standardized to the same size and has one of the functions of “Culture,” “Control,” or “Analysis.” Users can freely configure various MPSs, including developing perfusion, cytotoxicity analysis, and biochemical ...

Vat Polymerization 3D Printing for Controlled Drug Release Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vat polymerization (VP) 3D printing, a light‐based additive manufacturing technique, has emerged as a promising technique for fabricating complex drug delivery systems with high precision and spatial resolution. This layer‐by‐layer manufacturing process enables the creation of intricate geometries and customizable architectures, which are ...

OT syntax [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 40th Annual Meeting on Association for Computational Linguistics - ACL '02, 2001
In Optimality-Theoretic Syntax, optimization with unrestricted expressive power on the side of the OT constraints is undecidable. This paper provides a proof for the decidability of optimization based on constraints expressed with reference to local subtrees (which is in the spirit of OT theory).
