Ecology of Food and Nutrition, 1976Hypovitaminosis A, as confirmed by dietary, biochemical data, and clinical sign, is a public health problem in Northeast Brazil, the area most seriously affected in Latin America. In a one year period about 1,000 pre‐school age children go blind from hypovitaminosis A.
