Neural Network‐Based Permittivity Engineering of Magnetic Absorbers for Customizable Microwave Absorption

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A neural network‐enabled permittivity engineering paradigm is introduced, transcending traditional trial‐and‐error design. By decoupling electromagnetic parameters and screening a high‐throughput feature space, an ultrathin (1.0 mm) magnetic absorber is inversely designed, experimentally achieving a superior and customizable 5.1 GHz bandwidth and ...

A Unified Analysis of Stochastic Optimization Methods Using Jump System Theory and Quadratic Constraints

open access: yes, 2017
We develop a simple routine unifying the analysis of several important recently-developed stochastic optimization methods including SAGA, Finito, and stochastic dual coordinate ascent (SDCA).

Monogamy and polygamy for multi-qubit entanglement using R\'enyi entropy

open access: yes, 2009
Using R\'enyi-$\alpha$ entropy to quantify bipartite entanglement, we prove monogamy of entanglement in multi-qubit systems for $\alpha \geq 2$. We also conjecture a polygamy inequality of multi-qubit entanglement with strong numerical evidence for $0.83-

Cluster‐Mediated Solute Stabilization and Shear‐Bypass Synergistic Strengthening in High‐Alloyed Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that in high‐alloy systems, nanoclusters with high solute tolerance can effectively suppress compositional segregation. This mitigation leads to a concurrent 18.7% increase in strength and 41.5% improvement in ductility, which is attributed to a shear‐bypass synergistic strengthening mechanism. The findings provide a new pathway

Multi-hop Diffusion LMS for Energy-constrained Distributed Estimation

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a multi-hop diffusion strategy for a sensor network to perform distributed least mean-squares (LMS) estimation under local and network-wide energy constraints.

Stable Diffusion Models Reveal a Persisting Human–AI Gap in Visual Creativity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study examines visual creativity in humans and generative AI using the TCIA framework. Human artists outperform AI overall, yet structured human guidance substantially improves AI outputs and evaluations. Findings reveal that alignment with human creativity depends critically on contextual framing, highlighting both the promise and current ...

Contesting crisis narratives amidst climatic breakdown: Climate change, mobility, and state-centric approaches to migration

open access: yesFrontiers in Sociology
Human mobility in the context of climate change is often identified as one of the largest future impacts of the climate crisis. It is often assumed by international institutions and national governments that climate change will drive mass migration ...

Zero-Outage Cellular Downlink with Fixed-Rate D2D Underlay

open access: yes, 2014
Two of the emerging trends in wireless cellular systems are Device-to-Device (D2D) and Machine-to-Machine (M2M) communications. D2D enables efficient reuse of the licensed spectrum to support localized transmissions, while M2M connections are often ...
