Stabilizing Magnesium Anodes in Rechargeable Magnesium Batteries via Fluorinated Cyclic Ether Electrolyte Additive

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 16, Issue 18, 13 May 2026.
A fluorinated cyclic ether, FDOL, is shown to stabilize Mg metal anodes by tuning Mg2+ solvation of the G2 electrolyte. The G2‐FDOL electrolyte suppresses passivation and thick, diffusion‐blocking Mg deposits, enabling more uniform Mg plating/stripping and sustained interfacial reactions.

Eu(II) Complexes as Model Systems for Spin‐Only Metal Polarizing Agents for Solid Effect DNP

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 6, Issue 3, May 2026.
This study introduces Eu(II)‐[2.2.2]cryptand as a model polarizing agent for solid effect dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP). By analyzing the roles of nuclear spin (I = 5/2) and zero‐field splitting in an S = 7/2 system, the authors reproduce electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and DNP behavior across various field strengths.

Magnetic Field‐Modulated Boolean Logic in Proteinoid‐ Fe3 O4 Hybrid Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, Volume 5, Issue 5, May 2026.
Proteinoid‐Fe3O4${\rm Fe}_3{\rm O}_4$. nanoparticle composites exhibit spontaneous electrical oscillations that emulate Boolean logic gates (AND, OR, XOR, NAND, NOR, NOT) under magnetic field modulation. External fields of 65.103 mT tune oscillatory behavior: 84 mT enhances amplitude while 103 mT suppresses it.

Status and Prospect of Secondary Battery Technologies in Space Applications: Challenges and the Future

open access: yesBatteries &Supercaps, Volume 9, Issue 5, May 2026.
Lithium‐ion batteries used in space applications are exposed to extreme conditions, including radiation, vacuum, wide temperature fluctuations, and long storage times, all of which accelerate degradation. This review article summarizes the main degradation mechanisms affecting battery performance in space environments, including capacity fade ...

Magnetism for the Quantification of Sorption in Porous Materials From Liquid Media

open access: yesChemistry–Methods, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2026.
This adsorption quantification technique uses external magnetic fields and a magnetic holder to measure mass changes during adsorption, making it universally applicable to any adsorbate. Unlike standard methods, it requires calibration only for the adsorbent rather than for every analyte.

Sustainable Live Sound Monitoring and Classification System Enabled by a Triboelectric Nanogenerator and Machine Learning Techniques

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 3, May 2026.
A high‐performance Triboelectric Nanogenerator (TENG) acoustic sensor using polyimine/graphite polypropylene (PI/GP) was developed for real‐time, sustainable sound monitoring and classification. The self‐powered device delivers 25.67 μW output power, 92.7% accuracy with MobileNet V1, and powers a wireless transmission circuit, demonstrating dual ...

Numerical Simulation of Post‐Yield Hysteretic Behavior of Lap‐Spliced Reinforced Concrete Bridge Pier Walls Under Earthquake Loading

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1356-1376, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Reinforced concrete pier walls designed before the 1970s often incorporate lap splice in potential plastic‐hinge regions. Previous experimental tests indicate that most of pier walls experienced post‐yield lap splice failure, necessitating a modeling approach that captures not only lap splice strength but also deformation capacity.

Seismic Fragility Analysis of Containment Structures in Nuclear Power Plants Considering Alkali‐Silica Reaction

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, Volume 55, Issue 6, Page 1467-1487, May 2026.
ABSTRACT This study quantifies the influence of alkali‐silica reaction (ASR) on the seismic fragility of prestressed concrete containment structures in nuclear power plants (NPPs). Global collapse was considered as the governing failure mode to maintain consistency with current risk assessment frameworks, and was captured using a finite element model ...
