New methods for bounding the number of points on curves over finite fields

open access: yes, 2012
We provide new upper bounds on N_q(g), the maximum number of rational points on a smooth absolutely irreducible genus-g curve over F_q, for many values of q and g. Among other results, we find that N_4(7) = 21 and N_8(5) = 29, and we show that a genus-12

The Bibliographic Comparison of Information Management and Knowledge Management fields through their Scientific outputs; With the Emphasis on the share of Information Science in Each of these Fields

open access: yesIranian Journal of Information Processing & Management, 2015
The evolution of cognition a field starts with concentration on concepts, words and terms of that field. In information science field, distinction and similarity between information and knowledge has involved discussions, part of which has been ...

Effect of different management techniques on bird taxonomic groups on rice fields in the Republic of Korea

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Many bird species rely on the ecological functions of rice field habitats (e.g., paddy, levee, road, and ditch). However, recent intensive practices are causing rice fields to provide fewer suitable habitats.

Anomalous Gluon Production and Condensation in Glasma

open access: yes, 2013
The collinear color electric and magnetic fields have been discussed to be produced immediately after high energy heavy ion collisions. We discuss anomalous gluon production under the background gauge fields. The gluons are Nielsen-Olesen unstable modes.

AGROECOLOGY: POLYSEMY, PLURALISM AND CONTROVERSIES [PDF]

open access: yesAmbiente & Sociedade, 2016
In recent years, a growing number of actors and institutions, in different countries, have begun using the notion of Agroecology, which has led to an expansion of its polysemy and its controversies. Taking this into account, this paper analyzes, based on

Pastoralist herd size maintenance during drought with the use of reseeded fields near Lake Baringo, Kenya

open access: yesPastoralism, 2022
Land degradation, loss of access to land resources, climate variability, socio-economic changes, and population increase are among the factors that contribute to forage shortage among the pastoral communities.

Comparison of Magnetic Flux Distribution between a Coronal Hole and a Quiet Region

open access: yes, 2007
Employing Big Bear Solar Observatory (BBSO) deep magnetograms and H${\alpha}$ images in a quiet region and a coronal hole, observed on September 14 and 16, 2004, respectively, we have explored the magnetic flux emergence, disappearance and distribution ...

Method and apparatus for telemetry adaptive bandwidth compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Methods and apparatus are provided for automatic and/or manual adaptive bandwidth compression of telemetry. An adaptive sampler samples a video signal from a scanning sensor and generates a sequence of sampled fields.

Comparative Analysis of Machine Learning Algorithms and Statistical Techniques for Data Analysis in Crop Growth Monitoring with NDVI [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
We assessed the potential of Machine Learning (ML) for mapping crop growth in three flood irrigated fields. Results generated from ML algorithms were compared to the output generated by the ISODATA algorithm.
