Simultaneous Solution of Helical Coiled Once-Through Steam Generator with High-Speed Water Property Library

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
Efficient simulation of the helical coiled once-through steam generator (H-OTSG) is crucial in the design and safety analysis of the high-temperature gas-cooled reactor (HTGR).

A fishtail well design for cyclic steam injection—A case study from Yarega heavy oil field in Russia

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 7, Issue 6, Page 2437-2455, December 2019., 2019
The joint application of cyclic steam injection technology with fishtail wells assists in reducing the travel time the mobilized oil takes to arrive at a well perforation. Our results demonstrate that the synergy between these two strategies can further improve recoveries in heavy oil reservoirs. In addition to the technical advantage of this strategy,

Assessment of Severe Accident Management for Small IPWR under an ESBO Scenario

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Interest in evaluation of severe accidents induced by extended station blackout (ESBO) has significantly increased after Fukushima. In this paper, the severe accident process under the high and low pressure induced by an ESBO for a small integrated pressurized water reactor (IPWR)‐IP200 is simulated with the SCDAP/RELAP5 code.

Analysis of Flow and Heat Transfer in OTSGs and Injection Wells

open access: yes, 2023
Steam for enhanced oil recovery, generated by using once-through steam generators (OTSGs), is injected into extra heavy oil (bitumen) bearing formations to raise the temperature of the oil within. At elevated temperatures, the oil mobility is raised enabling it to be produced to surface. To improve the performance of steam-based processes, the research

Concentrated Solar Power Plants with Molten Salt Storage: Economic Aspects and Perspectives in the European Union

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Concentrated solar power plants belong to the category of clean sources of renewable energy. The paper discusses the possibilities for the use of molten salts as storage in modern CSP plants. Besides increasing efficiency, it may also shift their area of application: thanks to increased controllability, they may now be used not only to cover baseload ...

A calmodulin‐like protein regulates plasmodesmal closure during bacterial immune responses

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 215, Issue 1, Page 77-84, July 2017., 2017
Summary Plants sense microbial signatures via activation of pattern recognition receptors (PPRs), which trigger a range of cellular defences. One response is the closure of plasmodesmata, which reduces symplastic connectivity and the capacity for direct molecular exchange between host cells.

Dynamic Modeling and Control Characteristics of the Two‐Modular HTR‐PM Nuclear Plant

open access: yesScience and Technology of Nuclear Installations, Volume 2017, Issue 1, 2017., 2017
The modular high temperature gas‐cooled reactor (MHTGR) is a typical small modular reactor (SMR) with inherent safety feature. Due to its high reactor outlet coolant temperature, the MHTGR can be applied not only for electricity production but also as a heat source for industrial complexes.

Study on the fouling effect on OTSG flow and heat transfer performance

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract During power operation of nuclear reactors, corrosion products of various materials may deposit and form fouling on the primary and secondary sides of Once Through Steam Generator (OTSG) heat transfer tubes. Fouling will change the local flow area and heat transfer coefficient of heat transfer tubes, thus affecting the flow and heat ...

Cross-scale Coupling Analysis of Once-through Steam Generator of Sodium-cooled Fast Reactor

open access: yesYuanzineng kexue jishu, 2022
There are a series of complex physical phenomena in once-through steam generators (OTSG), such as full-regime flow boiling and phase-change heat transfer from supercooled water to superheated steam, coupled heat transfer between tube side and shell side.

Research on characteristic of flow instability in a two-phase natural circulation loop with parallel once-through steam generators

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Nuclear Reactor Design and Technology, 2023
When there are two sets of parallel once through-steam generators(OTSG) in the natural circulation loop, the thermal-hydraulic characteristics are complicated. Flow instability often occurs in such loops.
