In and out of hospital

British Journal of Healthcare Assistants, 2009
I am 47 years old and I have spent far too much time in hospitals, especially in the last few years. I had bad asthma in my twenties but then went into a good phase. During this I married and had two children (now teenagers) and I have a fantastic husband. My asthma came back with a vengeance about 5 years ago and I found myself in and out of hospital

Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest

Emergency Medicine Clinics of North America, 2012
Myocardial disease and death from cardiac arrest remain significant public health problems. Sudden death events and out-of-hospital cardiac arrests (OHCA) are encountered frequently by emergency medical services. Despite more than 30 years of research, survival rates remain extremely low.

Indications for out-of-hospital thromboprophylaxis

Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift, 2004
In the last decade the performance of an adequate perioperative prophylaxis for venous thromboembolism (VTE) has become an established in-hospital measure. Although new antithrombotic drugs (oral thrombin inhibitors, fondaparinux) could reduce the incidence of perioperative VTE the absolute number remains high.
