Prediction of out-of-pocket health expenditures in Rwanda using machine learning techniques

open access: yesThe Pan African Medical Journal, 2020
INTRODUCTION: in Rwanda, the estimated out of pocket health expenditure has been increased from 24.46% in 2000 to 26% in 2015. Despite the existence of guideline in estimation of out of pocket health expenditures provided by WHO (2018), the estimation of

Disordered but rhythmic—the role of intrinsic protein disorder in eukaryotic circadian timing

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Unstructured domains known as intrinsically disordered regions (IDRs) are present in nearly every part of the eukaryotic core circadian oscillator. IDRs enable many diverse inter‐ and intramolecular interactions that support clock function. IDR conformations are highly tunable by post‐translational modifications and environmental conditions, which ...

Catastrophic health expenditure and associated factors among adult diabetes patients at the University of Gondar Comprehensive Specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia

open access: yesBMC Health Services Research
Introduction Out-of-pocket health expenditures pose a substantial financial burden for millions of people worldwide. Diabetes patients without financial protection often face catastrophic out-of-pocket health expenditure. However, the catastrophic out-of-

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.
