Improving Outage Performance: Outage Optimization Process
Volume 1: Plant Operations, Maintenance and Life Cycle; Component Reliability and Materials Issues; Codes, Standards, Licensing and Regulatory Issues; Fuel Cycle and High Level Waste Management, 2006Planned outage performance is a key measure of how well an Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is operated. Performance during planned outages strongly affects virtually all of a plant’s performance metrics. In recognition of this fact, NPP operators worldwide have and continue to focus on improving their outage performance.

Outage Performance of OSTBC in MIMO Channels with Shadowing
Wireless Personal Communications, 2007In this letter, taking into account realistic propagation environments in the presence of log- normal shadowing, we analyze the outage performance of orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) for an arbitrary finite number of transmit and receive antennas.

Algorithm to improve the outage performance of IF Virtual MIMO system
2014 Australian Communications Theory Workshop (AusCTW), 2014In this paper, we improve the outage performance of a 2 by 2 Virtual MIMO system based on Compute-and-Forward method [1]. The current scheme requires negotiations between the relays and destination to determine which decoded message the relay should transmit.

Outage Performance of Downlink IRS-Assisted NOMA Systems
GLOBECOM 2020 - 2020 IEEE Global Communications Conference, 2020In this paper, a downlink non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) system is studied, in which an intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) is deployed to enhance the coverage by assisting a cell-edge user device (UD) to communicate with the base station (BS).

Outage Performance of Cooperative Relay Using STBC Systems
Wireless Personal Communications, 2009We analyze the outage performance of the cooperative relay with the decode- and-forward protocol under Rayleigh fading channels. The technique of orthogonal space---time block coding is applied at the links of source-relay, source-destination and relay-destination. A closed-form expression for the outage probability is derived.

Analytical outage performance of cognitive small cell network
2014 IEEE Online Conference on Green Communications (OnlineGreenComm), 2014Spectral efficiency (SE) and energy efficiency (EE) are the critical challenges for the next generation cellular network (NGCN). Small cells deployment and cognitive radio which facilitates efficient utilization of radio spectrum are the promising techniques for evolution of the NGCN.

Outage performance analysis of relay selection in SWIPT systems
2016 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference, 2016In this paper, we investigate the performance of relay selection for simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) systems. In particular, we consider a relay network consisting of both energy harvesting (EH) and non-EH relays. We further assume amplify-and-forward relaying and power-splitting at the EH units.

Outage Performance of OSTBC in Double Scattering MIMO Channels
Wireless Personal Communications, 2007In this letter, taking into account realistic propagation environments in the presence of double scattering, we analyze the outage probability of orthogonal space-time block coding (OSTBC) for an arbitrary finite number of transmit and receive antennas.

Improving TCP performance after a long channel outage
2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003Bursty packet loss caused by channel outage is one of the most significant problems in high-frequency-band communications because TCP applications, especially after experiencing bursty packet loss, take a long time to recover. This paper proposes a rapid recovery algorithm for use at the TCP layer for a bursty packet loss channel in a server-client ...

Outage planning: human performance considerations
Conference Record for 1992 Fifth Conference on Human Factors and Power Plants, 1992Human performance is an important factor in the assessment of outage plans and shutdown risk. An assessment process for examining plant outage working conditions against six fundamental methods for supporting reliable human performance is described. Results of a generic analysis using this process are presented.
