An outburst from a massive star 40 days before a supernova explosion [PDF]
Various lines of evidence suggest that very massive stars experience extreme mass-loss episodes shortly before they explode as a supernova. Interestingly, several models predict such pre-explosion outbursts. Establishing a causal connection between these

We present progenitor-star detections, light curves, and optical spectra of SN2009ip and the 2009 optical transient in UGC2773 (U2773-OT), which were not genuine SNe.

Solving the kilo-second QPO problem of the intermediate polar GK Persei [PDF]
We detect the likely optical counterpart to previously reported X-ray QPOs in spectrophotometry of the intermediate polar GK Persei during the 1996 dwarf nova outburst. The characteristic timescales range between 4000--6000 s.

The coal and gas outburst process is frequently accompanied by strong dynamic effects, and the generating outburst shock wave will cause certain casualties, even damage ventilation facilities such as air doors, thus expanding the scope of accidents.

Photometric observations of the radio bright B[e]/X-ray binary CI Cam [PDF]
We present multiwavelength (optical, IR, radio) observations of CI Cam, the optical counterpart to the transient X-ray source XTE J0421+560. Pre-outburst quiescent observations reveal the presence of a dusty envelope around the system.

The outburst of dammed lake Maashey (North-Chuya ridge, Central Altai)
The dammed lakes are widespread in mountainous areas and usually occur when river flow is blocked by landslides, rock glaciers, etc. Among such lakes, the most dangerous are those located in the periglacial zone and blocked by rock glaciers.

Coal and gas outburst is a serious disaster in the mining, and crosscut coal is the most prone to cause the coal and gas outburst. In order to study the mechanism of outburst, this paper studied the stress distribution characteristics in front of the ...

Coal and gas outbursts are dynamic disasters in which a large mass of gas and coal suddenly emerges in a mining space within a split second. The interaction between the gas pressure and stress environment is one of the key factors that induce coal and ...

Remarkable changes in the near-infrared spectrum of the nova-like variable V4332 Sgr
We report on recent near-IR observations of V4332 Sgr - the nova-like variable that erupted in 1994. Its rapid, post-outburst evolution to a cool M type giant/supergiant, soon after its outburst, had showed that it was an unusual object differing from ...

Research on particle size distribution characteristics of typical outburst coal
In order to deeply explore mechanism of the physical and mechanical properties of coal in the development of coal and gas outburst, in connection with the current state of insufficient research in characteristics of grain size distribution and grain ...
