Causes, treatment and outcome of external ear canal tears and avulsions in cats and dogs: 24 cases (2008‒2024)

Abstract Background This study aimed to evaluate the causes, treatment options and associated complications of ear canal tears and avulsions in dogs and cats. Methods This retrospective clinical study includes 14 cats and 10 dogs diagnosed with external ear canal tears and avulsions using otoscopy and/or computed tomography.

Fatal lightning strikes in Ireland from newspaper records 1900–2024

This study presents a chronology of fatal lightning strikes in Ireland (1900–2024) derived from digitised newspaper archives. Analysis provides insights into the seasonality, location, victim activity and synoptic conditions (from Lamb weather types) of 94 fatal events causing 113 deaths.

Characteristics of unique cap, Tsurushi and Hata clouds around Mount Fuji

Distinct clouds, such as cap clouds, Tsurushi (a type of lenticular cloud) and Hata (banner cloud‐like clouds), frequently form around Mount Fuji, an isolated peak with a slightly elliptical conical shape. Here, we examine their characteristics and occurrence patterns.
