Numerical modeling of outdoor thermal comfort in 3D

Urban Climate, 2018
Abstract With the rise in urban air temperature, heat stress and thermal discomfort are challenging the livability of urban environments. To respond to this concern, we employ numerical modeling to evaluate the spatial and temporal variabilities of thermal comfort and introduce a simulation tool: outdoor thermal comfort in 3D (OTC3D).

The effects of trees on outdoor thermal comfort in cities

2020
<p>Nature-based solutions appear to be an interesting option for enhancing the thermal comfort of the urban population during summer, while providing multiple services (e.g. biodiversity enhancement, the reduction in buildings energy consumption, stormwater management, acoustic insulation or air purification).

Digital Simulation for the Outdoor Thermal Comfort Assessment

2019
Creating a successful public outdoor space for the city people is significantly affected by the sensation of thermal comfort, which is influenced by the local microclimate. With the increase in the complexity of the urban environment and the excessive change in the climate, there is a great need to quantitatively assess the thermal comfort in outdoor ...

Theoretical dimension of outdoor thermal comfort research

Sustainable Cities and Society, 2019
Abstract Traditional methods to process comfort data are constantly criticised due to their inability to provide an explanation for thermal satisfaction achievement. Theories, however, seem to present a solution to this growing issue. Therefore, this study aims to review how the efforts made in the existing literature can benefit from theoretical ...
