Online classifier adaptation for cost-sensitive learning

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we propose the problem of online cost-sensitive clas- sifier adaptation and the first algorithm to solve it. We assume we have a base classifier for a cost-sensitive classification problem, but it is trained with respect to a cost setting ...

On the (Im)possibility of Preventing Differential Computation Analysis with Internal Encodings

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
White-box cryptography aims at protecting implementations of cryptographic algorithms against a very powerful attacker who controls the execution environment. The first defensive brick traditionally embedded in such implementations consists of encodings,

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Output-sensitive algorithm for the edge-width of an embedded graph [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the twenty-sixth annual symposium on Computational geometry, 2010
Let G be an unweighted graph of complexity n cellularly embedded in a surface (orientable or not) of genus g. We describe improved algorithms to compute (the length of) a shortest non-contractible and a shortest non-separating cycle of G. If k is an integer, we can compute such a non-trivial cycle with length at most k in O(gnk) time, or correctly ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Implicit Euler Implementation of Twisting Controller and Super-Twisting Observer without Numerical Chattering: Precise Quasi-Static MEMS Mirrors Control

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2019
The quasi-static operations of MEMS mirror are very sensitive to undesired oscillations due to its very low damping. It has been shown that closed-loop control can be superior to reduce those oscillations than open-loop control in the literature. For the

Snapshot multispectral imaging using a diffractive optical network

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2023
Multispectral imaging has been used for numerous applications in e.g., environmental monitoring, aerospace, defense, and biomedicine. Here, we present a diffractive optical network-based multispectral imaging system trained using deep learning to create ...

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.
