A 75‐year‐old male was implanted with a Telectronics MetaTM DDDR model 1250 pacemaker 47 months ago. The patient was evaluated in‐office for symptomatic complaints of dizziness, palpitations, and “too slow or too fast” pulse rates. Upon examination, the device displayed sudden no output manifestations for which the device had been recalled.

The problem of communication between man and computer was already mentioned in chapter 9. Both learn to understand through what is termed pattern recognition. Unfortunately, the patterns recognized most easily by man (dominantly those of picture and sound) are very different from those acceptable to a computer (electrical impulses).

Journal of Philosophical Logic, 2000
The authors propose that we think of logic not merely as an inference engine, but as a way of preparing information for a more general method of input/output transformation. Four such `logics' are described, from the `simple-minded', in which all the (classically) logical consequences of a (propositional) input \(A\) are become input and the output is ...

Input-output linearization by dynamic output feedback
2013 European Control Conference (ECC), 2013The problem of input-output linearization by dynamic output feedback of discrete-time multi-input multi-output nonlinear control systems is considered in this paper. The system is described by the set of higher order input-output difference equations.

A user interacts with an APL system through a session, an abstraction that represents a hypothetical machine capable of carrying out the evaluation sequences in this standard. The protocol for the use of a session takes the form of a dialogue: the user makes an entry and passes control to the ...

The Price-Output Correlation and the Variance of Output
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2007Using data from Backus and Kehoe (1992) we establish the existence of a positive relationship between the price-output correlation and the variance of output. This is consistent with the idea that reductions in the magnitude of aggregate demand shocks have been the dominant cause of changes in the price-output correlation across countries and across ...

Output Feedback Designs for Output Tracking
2004In Chapters 2 and 3, we developed adaptive state feedback control schemes for linear time-invariant plants with actuator failures characterized by some inputs being stuck at some values not influenced by control action, to achieve state tracking (Chapter 2) or output tracking (Chapter 3).

Growth, Capacity Output, and the Output Gap
The Review of Economics and Statistics, 1963AST spring and summer we witnessed a vigorous exchange of views between the present Council of Economic Advisors to the President and the former chairman of that body, Professor Arthur F. Burns.' It was a lesson in humility to note that the key issue of this policy-oriented discussion was not some highly sophisticated model but the basic problem of ...
