Energy supply shocks’ nonlinearities on output and prices

European Economic Review, 2023
We use a Bayesian Threshold Vector Autoregression model identified through sign and narrative restrictions to uncover non-linearities in the propagation of energy supply shocks. We find that the transmission of energy supply shocks on consumer prices is stronger in high-inflation regimes, supporting nonlinear models.

Nutritional Outputs and Energy Inputs in Seafoods

Science, 1977
Energy used by U.S. ships in harvesting seafoods can vary by a factor of more than 100 when the seafoods are compared on the basis of their content of edible protein or line weight. This energy difference bears no relationship to the nutritive value of the food. When protein yield is compared, the energy to harvest some seafoods is in the same range as

Energy Price Shock, Employment and Output

2009 International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization, 2009
This paper analyzes the effects of energy price shock from a general equilibrium standpoint. We develop a dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) model for the China economy. The model explicitly includes energy in the technology used by domestic firms.

More on the Output Elasticity of Energy Consumption

The Journal of Industrial Economics, 1972
IN work published in I968, Adams and Miovic' noted that the output elasticity of energy consumption (commonly called the energy coefficient) was a somewhat amorphous parameter, differing substantially between countries and changing over time. They demonstrated that if energy statistics were adjusted to take account of the different efficiencies of the ...

TRENDS AND PROJECTIONS IN SOVIET ENERGY OUTPUT

Proceedings of Annual Meeting of the American Institute of Mining, Metallurgical, and Petroleum Engineers, 1961
1961 SPE Annual Meeting, Dallas, October 8–11, 1961 Over the past four years, much authentic information on energy resources, technology, output and utilization in the Soviet Union has become available. The major sources have been technical Journals such as Ugol' (Coal), Neftvanove khoz Vavstvo (Petroleum Economics), and Torfvanava ...

Energy and output dynamics in Bangladesh

Energy Economics, 2011
The relationship between energy consumption and output is still ambiguous in the existing literature. The economy of Bangladesh, having spectacular output growth and rising energy demand as well as energy efficiency in recent decades, can be an ideal case for examining energy-output dynamics. We find that while fluctuations in energy consumption do not

Output regulation with bounded energy

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1973
The problem of zeroing the output y = Cx of the system \dot{x} = Ax + Bu by control of the form u = Fx under a constraint of the type \int\min{0}\max{\infty} u'(t)Ru(t) dt is solved. The result is used to furnish necessary and sufficient conditions for solvability of the infinite-time optimal linear regulator problem.

Output-Capital and Investment-Output Ratios in the Fuel-Energy Complex

Problems in Economics, 1979
At the November (1978) Plenum of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, L. I. Brezhnev noted that all work on the new five-year plan must be based on a search for the most effective and economical ways of attaining the final results of production.

Energy Output and work Stress in Coastal Fishing

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1973
Energy expenditure in 14 fishermen engaged in fishing was determined by direct measurement of oxygen uptake and by indirect assessment based on continuous recording of the heart rate. Urinary excretion of catecholamines was assayed as an index of stress response.

Amrinone and Energy Output of Rabbit Papillary Muscles

Journal of Cardiovascular Pharmacology, 1985
We studied the effects of amrinone (300 micrograms X ml-1) on the mechanical and energetic outputs of nonfailing rabbit papillary muscles at 27 degrees C using a myothermic technique. Amrinone was found to markedly stimulate the basal (i.e., nonbeating) metabolism.
