Series elasticity and actuator power output

Proceedings 2006 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation, 2006. ICRA 2006., 2006
In this investigation we put forth a simple model to quantify the capacity of series elasticity to increase peak power output from an actuator. Using a linear bandwidth limited force source, we show how series spring stiffness and source stroke length effect power output to an inertial load.

Power output for a nonlinear Brownian machine

Physical Review E, 2017
We propose a method that makes use of the nonlinear properties of some hypothetical microscopic solid material as the working substance for a microscopic machine. The protocols used are simple (step and elliptic) and allow us to obtain the work and heat exchanged between machine and reservoirs.

Compatibility factor for the power output of a thermogenerator

physica status solidi (RRL) – Rapid Research Letters, 2007
AbstractThe compatibility approach introduced by Snyder and Ursell enables the description of both thermoelectric generator (TEG) and Peltier cooler (TEC) within the framework of a unified 1D model. Both TEG's efficiencyηand TEC's coefficient of performance (C.O.P.) can be formulated in terms of the reduced current densityu, which has been introduced ...

Human Power Output and Muscle Fatigue

International Journal of Sports Medicine, 1994
In human locomotion the ability to generate and sustain power output is of fundamental importance. This review examines the implications for power output of having variability in the metabolic and contractile properties within the population of muscle fibres which comprise the major locomotory muscles.
