Structure‐guided insights into the biology of fungal effectors

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 246, Issue 4, Page 1460-1477, May 2025.
Summary Phytopathogenic fungi cause enormous yield losses in many crops, threatening both agricultural production and global food security. To infect plants, they secrete effectors targeting various cellular processes in the host. Putative effector genes are numerous in fungal genomes, and they generally encode proteins with no sequence homology to ...

A pan‐tumor review of the role of poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase inhibitors

open access: yesCA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians, Volume 75, Issue 2, Page 141-167, March/April 2025.
Abstract Poly(adenosine diphosphate ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors, such as olaparib, talazoparib, rucaparib, and niraparib, comprise a therapeutic class that targets PARP proteins involved in DNA repair. Cancer cells with homologous recombination repair defects, particularly BRCA alterations, display enhanced sensitivity to these agents because ...
