Abstract An over-deterministic method based on crack-tip stress fields is proposed for evaluating stress intensity factors (SIFs) and T-stress at crack tip for mode I, mode II or mixed-mode I/II cracks under static or dynamic loading. In this method, the coordinates and stresses of the nodes around the crack tip, obtained from finite element method ...

Abstract This article applies the finite element over-deterministic (FEOD) method to determine the coefficients of the crack tip asymptotic fields in an anisotropic plane. This method relies on finding the best fit of the crack tip displacement equations to the displacements taken from a large number of nodes around the crack tip.

Creation of an automatic utility to determine the values of coefficients of higher order terms of Williams power series by usage of over-deterministic method applied to results of finite element analysis is a main goal of this research. The developed procedure based on the support of Java programming language considerably simplifies analyses on ...

AbstractA rapid and appropriate evaluation of the crack asymptote coefficients is essential for estimating the fracture growth in rock materials with inherent cracks and discontinuities. In the present study, the extended finite element method (XFEM), implemented with free coarse mesh, is used in conjunction with the finite element over‐deterministic ...
