A Compact Over-Voltage Protection Circuit for HBT Power Amplifiers
2006 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest, 2006This paper presents an over-voltage protection circuit with low capacitance loading and small size. Its operation principles and measured performance will be presented. As a case study, a 5.4-6.0 GHz InGaP/GaAs HBT power amplifier with this compact over-voltage protection circuit, resulting in no degradation in PA performance, is demonstrated.

Research on Commutating Over-Voltage Protection for High Power Converter
EPE Journal, 2014AbstractIn the course of converter normal operation, large transient surges called commutating over-voltage may be generated internally during the commutating process of thyristor. The commutating voltage can effectively be reduced by the RC snubber circuit parallel to thyristor.

Protection of Supervisory Control Lines Against Over-Voltage
Transactions of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1928Supervisory control lines used in the remtote or automatic control of electric plants are subject to overvoltages dangerous to insulation and to operators. These overvoltages may be caused by lightning, crosses with the power lines, or induction from them.

A matrix converter without diode clamped over-voltage protection
Proceedings IPEMC 2000. Third International Power Electronics and Motion Control Conference (IEEE Cat. No.00EX435), 2002In this paper, the design and testing of a new protection strategy for a matrix power converter feeding an induction motor is described. The new protection strategy, with excellent overvoltage protection, allows to remove the large and expensive diode clamp.

Under Voltage and Over Voltage Monitor to Protect the Electrical Load
2019 IEEE PES/IAS PowerAfrica, 2019This research paper is presented to design a system that will monitor and protects the electrical loads from under voltage and over voltage supply, which may be due to unforeseen adverse effects of electrical voltages or voltage fluctuations. These adverse effects of voltage will affect the power quality that is being supplied to the electrical loads ...

Research on Protection Measure for Very Fast Transient Over-Voltage of GIS
2009 Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference, 2009Based on Tian huangping GIS Substation, very fast transient over-voltage caused by disconnecting switch operation of GIS is simulated and calculated in this paper with ATP-EMTP program. The effect of protection measures on equipments is compared and analyzed, such as adding opening and closing resistor, MOA, R-C absorber, and Ferrite Rings.

Integrated monolithic over-voltage protection circuit with adjustable threshold voltage
Conference Record of the 2004 IEEE Industry Applications Conference, 2004. 39th IAS Annual Meeting., 2004A new over-voltage protection circuit has been developed. In this protection circuit, the dissipative part is monolithically integrated in the same protected power chip with almost no additional technologic process or modifications. This monolithic integration takes advantage of main switch cooling system to extract over heating.

An enclosed spark-gap for over-voltage protection
Journal of the Institution of Electrical Engineers - Part IIIA: Radiolocation, 1946In radar circuits, if, under fault conditions, the modulator cable is not discharged, overvoltages may arise which are dangerous to components. The paper describes a spark-gap employed as a protective device. Such a gap should break down without time-lag at a little above the circuit-operating voltage.

Radioactive resistance of elements for over-voltage protection of low-voltage systems
Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1998Abstract Aim of this work is to examine the over-voltage protection under the ionizing radiation influence. The use of modern electronic devices (nuclear, military and space technology) in the conditions of ionizing radiation brings up the question of radioactive resistance of electronic components and over-voltage protection components. The question

A simple circuit for over-voltage and load protection for regulated power supplies
International Journal of Electronics, 1972A simple circuit consisting of a linear differential amplifier IC chip and a few components is described which would provide the over-voltage and current protection for regulated power supplies. The circuit is also capable of providing under-voltage indication and both the over- and under-voltages can be preset by simple potentiometric adjustment.
