Atherogenic Index of Plasma mediates the association between Life’s Crucial 9 with overactive bladder: a secondary data analysis from NHANES

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology
BackgroundSome studies suggest a potential link between cardiovascular health, lipid, and overactive bladder (OAB). Life’s Crucial 9 (LC9) is a recently developed method for assessing cardiovascular health, while the Atherogenic Index of Plasma (AIP ...

Esketamine/Ketamine: Dual‐Action Mechanisms and Clinical Prospects beyond Anesthesia in Psychiatry, Immunology, and Oncology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Esketamine and ketamine are widely used for perioperative analgesia and anesthesia. Despite their established roles in analgesia, sedation, and anesthesia, as well as emerging antidepressant, anti‐tumor, and anti‐inflammatory effects, their clinical use is limited due to side effects and addiction potential.

Disrupting CSPG‐Driven Microglia–Astrocyte Crosstalk Enables Scar‐Free Repair in Spinal Cord Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies CSPGs as key drivers of glial scar maturation after spinal cord injury by reprogramming microglial metabolism and inducing astrocyte fibrosis. To address this, a reactive oxygen species‐responsive, reactive astrocyte‐targeted ChABC gene delivery system is designed to locally degrade CSPGs, precisely disrupt maladaptive glial ...

A Sirtuin‐1‐Targeted Gene‐Activating Tetrahedral DNA Attenuates Bladder Fibrosis by Restoring Mitophagy in Fibroblasts via the SIRT1‐FOXO3‐BNIP3 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The SIRT1‐targeted saRNA‐delivering tetrahedral DNA (TSA) treatment effectively upregulates SIRT1 expression, which subsequently promotes FOXO3A deacetylation. This deacetylation event relieves FOXO3A's transcriptional repression on the BNIP3 gene, thereby initiating PINK1‐PARKIN‐dependent mitophagy.

Cuneiform Nucleus Stimulation Can Assist Gait Training to Promote Locomotor Recovery in Individuals With Incomplete Tetraplegia

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Impaired ability to induce stepping after incomplete spinal cord injury (SCI) can limit the efficacy of locomotor training, often leaving patients wheelchair‐bound. The cuneiform nucleus (CNF), a key mesencephalic locomotor control center, modulates the activity of spinal locomotor centers via the reticulospinal tract.

Prevalence and impact of prescribing cascades in community‐dwelling adults: Longitudinal analysis of the Irish longitudinal study on ageing (TILDA)

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Prescribing cascades occur when medication is prescribed to prevent/treat the adverse effects of another medication and may be intentional/unintentional. This study examines the prevalence of nine prescribing cascades (ThinkCascades) in The Irish Longitudinal StuDy on Ageing (TILDA).
