Prevalence and Risk Indicators of Peri‐Implant Diseases and Buccal Soft‐Tissue Dehiscence: A Cross‐Sectional Study From a University‐Based Cohort

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This cross‐sectional study of 146 patients and 511 implants assessed the prevalence and risk indicators of peri‐implant diseases and buccal soft‐tissue dehiscence (PISTD) in a university‐based cohort. Moderate/severe peri‐implantitis affected 34.7% of implants, and PISTD was observed in 54.1% of patients.

Air‐Polishing Versus Ultrasonic Instrumentation for Nonsurgical Treatment of Peri‐Implantitis: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
This RCT offers a nuanced understanding of nonsurgical peri‐implantitis management (air polishing with erythritol versus ultrasonic instrumentation, in combination with systemic metronidazole), integrating both clinical and patient‐centered outcomes. The results showed that the ultrasonic instrumentation reduced probing depth and bleeding on probing ...

Effect of Denture Base Material on the Peri-implant Stresses of Implant Supported Overdenture: An In Vitro Study [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Prosthodontics and Restorative Dentistry
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of denture base material on the peri-implant stresses of overdentures held in place by inclined and straight implants during axial dislodgments.

Evaluation of Strain Distribution in Bone around Implant in Treatment Design of Overdentures Using Computer and Modeling of Finite Elements [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Dental Materials and Techniques, 2016
Introduction: Introduction: Few studies have investigated the distribution of stress around implants. In this study the distribution of stress in bones around implants was investigated in five overdenture (OD) treatment designs including OD-1, OD-2, OD-3,

Nanoparticles in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry: From Mechanisms to Clinical Applications

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
Nanotechnology holds significant promise in improving dental care, yet there is a need for more reliable clinical studies to validate its effectiveness and safety. ABSTRACT Recent advances in nanotechnology are reshaping the landscape of periodontology and implant dentistry, particularly through the application of nanoparticles (NPs).

The role of antibiotics in preventing surgical complications in periodontology and implant dentistry

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Antibiotics are commonly prescribed in periodontal and implant surgeries, either before, during or after surgery, to prevent postoperative infection and reduce early implant failure. However, the potential benefits may be undermined by the risks of resistance and sensitization, thus requiring a strict indication for prescription.

Emerging risk factors influencing the occurrence of peri‐implantitis

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The objective of the present review is to explore the evidence and biological plausibility of factors that may expose dental implants to a greater likelihood of developing peri‐implantitis. Material and Methods An electronic screening on the PubMed library the was carried out to identify potential emerging factors that influence the

Comparison of masticatory efficiency, patient satisfaction for single, two, and three implants supported overdenture in the same patient: A pilot study

open access: yesThe Journal of Indian Prosthodontic Society, 2016
Statement of Problem: Over 30% of the world population suffers from edentulism. Implant supported overdenture have been a relatively successful treatment option for edentulism and have shown to slowed the rate of residual resorption and maintain the ...
