Research on anti-swing control strategies for three-dimensional overhead cranes with non-stationary enhanced swing angle suppression

open access: yesMeasurement + Control
In this paper, a non-stationary enhanced swing angle suppression control strategy is proposed to address the issue of excessive swinging angles during the transportation process of a three-dimensional overhead crane.

A depth–spatial alignment method for multi‐source point clouds on large‐scale construction sites

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 29, Page 5719-5746, 9 December 2025.
Abstract Three‐dimensional (3D) site models form the digital foundation for modern construction management. However, creating these models from multi‐source imagery presents two key challenges: accurately georeferencing camera poses during wide‐view acquisition and precisely aligning multiple point clouds that possess non‐uniform accuracy.

Time–cost combined optimization in planning infrastructure construction projects under environment induced time‐window constraints

open access: yesComputer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering, Volume 40, Issue 31, Page 6678-6700, 29 December 2025.
Abstract To accommodate environment‐induced time‐window constraints, environment‐sensitive activities are arranged within allowable time windows while maintaining technological precedence and other logical relationships on the project. This research advances classical time–cost trade‐off (TCT) analysis by incorporating time‐window constraints in ...

Developme of crack inspection method on crane runway girder using Sonic-IR

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
In recent study, active thermography has reached a high status as an easy and speedy defects inspection method in a NDT field. This paper newly proposes a remote and non-contact NDT method using a sonic-IR for detecting and evaluating of fatigue cracks ...

Staged ecologies: Aesthetics, nature and infrastructure in the late‐modern metropolis

open access: yesTransactions of the Institute of British Geographers, Volume 50, Issue 4, December 2025.
Short Abstract This paper examines the relationship between urban nature and landscape design within a £1.5 billion regeneration project that is currently unfolding in Thamesmead, a town in south‐east London. It develops the notion of ‘staged ecologies’ to examine how urban nature is being spatially and aesthetically arranged across the town's ...

Predator activity, proactive anti‐predator strategies and nesting phenology produce a dynamic landscape of risk to tundra goose reproduction

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 94, Issue 11, Page 2282-2294, November 2025.
We show that Arctic and red fox space use significantly affects goose nest habitat selection and nest success in a low‐Arctic tundra ecosystem. However, the impact of fox predation depended on the location and timing of incubation of the nest, demonstrating the importance of incorporating time into the ‘landscape of fear’ concept.

Optimizing the Substrate for Hypercube‐Based Neuroevolution of Augmented Topologies to Design Soft Actuators

open access: yesConcurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Volume 37, Issue 21-22, 25 September 2025.
ABSTRACT The characteristics of soft robots make them better candidates for applications such as healthcare, due to their enhanced safety, adaptability, and more natural human‐robot interaction compared to traditional counterparts. Different actuating systems have been proposed for soft robotics. On the other hand, since this technology is fairly young,

A Multi‐Mode Analytical Frequency Modulation Input‐Shaping Control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mechanical System Dynamics, Volume 5, Issue 3, Page 415-425, September 2025.
ABSTRACT In rest‐to‐rest maneuvers, input shapers like the double step (DS), zero vibration (ZV), and zero vibration derivative (ZVD) are widely utilized to eliminate residual vibrations in single‐mode systems. These shapers can be used to eliminate residual oscillations in multimode systems, given that the higher frequencies are odd multiples of the ...
