Prevalence of upper lip posture and incisor overjet

ABSTRACT 1,159 children (612 girls and 547 boys) aged 11–12 years were examined to determine the range and mean overjet values in four defined upper lip‐maxillary central incisor relationships. No clinically significant differences were found on comparison of the data relative to each upper lip position.

Abstract Overjet values were studied in a stratified convenience sample of 820 Nigerians aged 15, 19, 20 and 21 years from Lagos educational establishments. There was no indication that between 15 and 21 years of age overjet values were age or sex dependent.

Overjet correction by a combined headgear and activator

A simple appliance is described, consisting of an activator and headgear, which appears to provide control of the axial inclinations of the upper anterior teeth and to avoid major clockwise response. The results are evaluated in 40 consecutively treated cases.

[Changes in overjet with cuspless complete dentures].

Overjet was measured three times in 46 edentulous patients treated with complete dentures with cuspless teeth: 3 to 5 days after insertion of the new dentures, after 4 weeks and after 10 months. Despite the lack of cusps for fixing the occlusion we found only little overjet reduction.
