Hierarchical Semantic Overlay Network
2008 International Conference on Computer Science and Software Engineering, 2008A hierarchical semantic overlay network model HSON is put forward. In HSON, peers with resources of identical semantic are connected together to form SON. The semantics of SONs are associated with ontology concepts, and the hierarchical structure of ontology concepts is utilized to hierarchically organize all SONs.

This thesis describes the design, implementation, and evaluation of a Resilient Overlay Network (RON), an architecture that allows end-to-end communication across the wide-area Internet to detect and recover from path outages and periods of degraded performance within several seconds.

Toward Overlay Network Symbiosis
Fifth IEEE International Conference on Peer-to-Peer Computing (P2P'05), 2005Simultaneous overlay networks compete for network resources and disrupt each other. If they cooperate with each other, the collective performance can be improved and they can coexist comfortably. Taking inspiration from biology, in this paper the authors presented a model of symbiotic overlay networks.

The phenomenal growth of the Internet and its entry into many aspects of daily life has led to a great dependency on its services. Multimedia and content distribution applications (e.g., video streaming, online gaming, VoIP) require Quality of Service (QoS) guarantees in terms of bandwidth, delay, loss, and jitter to maintain a certain level of ...

We define a family of distributed hash table systems whose aim is to combine routing efficiency of the randomized networks - i.e. average path length O(log n/log log n) vs. the O(log n) average path length of the deterministic system - with the programmability and startup efficiency of a uniform system - that is a system in which the overlay network is

Forest is an overlay network designed for large real-time distributed systems. In particular, we’re interested in virtual worlds that provide high-quality interaction over a constantly changing pattern of communication. Forest is suitable for applications in which many entities send data to a large set of constantly changing entities.
