Shake table investigations on code non-compliant reinforced concrete frames
Shake-table tests were performed on a code conforming and four non-compliant 1:3 reduced scale two-story RC frames. The models were subjected to 1994 Northridge earthquake acceleration time history, linearly scaled to multiple levels for studying the ...

Effect of Degradation on Collapse Margin Ratio of Steel Moment Frames [PDF]
Although several studies have investigated the effect of degradation on the behavior of structures, inspections on collapse margin ratios are rare in the literature.

This paper aims to assess the structural overstrength (R), seismic behaviour factor (Q), and effective inertia factor (keff), of which the effective elastic stiffness (Keff) is a function, i.e., Keff (keff), of reinforced concrete (RC) cantilever columns

Overstrength of large-scale dowelled connections in CLT [PDF]
This paper presents an evaluation of overstrength based on an experimental study on large-scale dowelled connections in Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). In order to avoid brittle failure and ensure that ductile system behaviour and energy dissipation can

Effects of Wall‐to‐Floor Interactions on Seismic Response of Platform‐Type CLT Buildings
ABSTRACT Platform‐type cross‐laminated timber (CLT) buildings feature discontinuous wall segments supported by CLT floors. In practice, CLT floors are often treated as rigid diaphragm, yet the wall‐to‐floor interactions (WFIs) associated with flexibility of floors remain insufficiently investigated during seismic performance assessment.

An innovative gusset plate connection, which acts as a rigid connection, was proposed and investigated parametrically and numerically. Also, the required equations to design the system were proposed. Results indicated that the gusset plate yields a ductile fuse while the beam and column remain elastic.

Behaviour Factor of Ductile Code-Designed Reinforced Concrete Frames
The current generation of seismic design codes is based on a linear elastic force-based approach that includes the nonlinear response of the structure implicitly through a response modification factor (named reduction factor R in American codes or ...
