Resilient Coastal Protection Infrastructures: Probabilistic Sensitivity Analysis of Wave Overtopping Using Gaussian Process Surrogate Models

Sustainability
This paper presents a novel mathematical framework for assessing and predicting the resilience of critical coastal infrastructures against wave overtopping hazards and extreme climatic events.

Optimization of stepped revetment configuration on minimizing wave run-up and overtopping

The Physics of Fluids
A stepped revetment has proven to be able to attenuate wave run-up height and wave overtopping discharge more effectively than a dike or a smooth-slope revetment does. However, the investigation into the optimal design of a stepped revetment, tailored to

Assessment of Dam Overtopping Reliability using SUFI Based Overtopping Threshold Curve

Water Resources Management, 2018
Estimation of earth-fill dam height and dimension of spillway are strongly depend on accurate evaluation of dam overtopping reliability. Ideally, whole random and effective variables on overtopping should be considered for dam overtopping reliability assessment.

Numerical and Experimental Predictions of Overtopping Volumes for Violent Overtopping Events

Coastal Structures 2003, 2004
This paper describes how storm waves breaking in the surf zone and crashing over seawalls are a natural phenomenon with the potential for causing enormous damage. Much of the existing design guidance for seawalls considers the mean overtopping discharge on the structure.

Wave Overtopping at Seadikes

Coastal Structures 2003, 2004
This paper presents a summary of extensive research carried out on wave overtopping parameters over the last few years. Nevertheless, some aspects are worth mentioning for further research. Wind plays an important role for small overtopping volumes because overtopping water is transferred into spray and the loading of landward slope and the dike crests

Numerical Study on Overtopping Performance of Multi-stage Overtopping Wave Energy Converters

Proceedings of the European Wave and Tidal Energy Conference, 2023
The characteristics of wave conditions with large tidal ranges and small wave heights in China's coastal waters limit the operation time of traditional single-stage overtopping devices, while the multi-stage overtopping wave energy converters can increase the overall operation time of the device by distributing the upper and lower reservoirs.

Numerically Simulating Seawall Overtopping

Coastal Engineering 2000, 2001
Developments in computational modelling of storm waves propagating in the coastal surf zone and overtopping at sea walls and related structures is reported. The AMAZON suite of 1D and 2D Plan shallow water models are used for the calculations. The models employ a modern Riemann-based upwind scheme in a finite volume form for use on boundary-conforming ...

Overtop Headliner System

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1987
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper examines the need, use, and development of headliner substrates meeting engineering, acoustical, aesthetic, and economic requirements of the automobile market. The effects of various headliner constructions on reducing interior noise level is discussed along with a method to measure noise level.

Overtopping Rates for Seawalls

2023
Regression analysis is used to develop equations that are easy to use but reasonably accurate in calculating overtopping rates for seawalls. Data are taken from physical model studies and include a wide range of seawall types and wave conditions. The seawalls are divided into seven basic groups and regression coefficients are determined for each group.
