Poor cardiovascular outcomes of underweight abdominal obesity in the entire population of newly diagnosed heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Abstract Aims Body mass index (BMI) has been widely used as a simple tool for predicting cardiovascular risk. Here we aimed to analyse the distribution and cardiovascular outcomes according to BMI and waist circumference (WC) of the newly diagnosed heart failure (HF) patients in the entire population of the Republic of Korea for 10 years.

Anaemia in patients with heart failure and mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction: A prespecified analysis of the FINEARTS‐HF trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aims Anaemia is common in heart failure with mildly reduced or preserved ejection fraction (HFmrEF/HFpEF) and associated with poor clinical outcomes. While renin–angiotensin system blockers reduce haemoglobin, little is known about the effect of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists on haemoglobin and in patients with anaemia.

Incidence of major cardiovascular events in patients with metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease in the general population

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Aims Major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) related to cardiovascular disease are a major cause of death in patients with metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD). We explored the impact of MASLD on incident MACE and overall mortality in the general population in Germany.
