Transport Through the Rabbit Oviduct

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1957
Longitudinal contractions of the rabbit oviduct do not change in amplitude or rate at different intervals after mating to 4 days, but they become greater in pregnancy and less in pseudopregnancy. Oil and India ink are spread in both directions by segmentation and pendular movement of the smooth muscle but they are arrested at 2–3 cm anterior to the ...

Methods for Studying Oviductal Physiology

Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation, 1975
In studying oviductal physiology, it is important to sort out the complex interrelationships between muscle, cilia, nerves and secretory processes as they each of themselves, or in concert, effect gamete transport. In this review, a variety of physiological techniques and bioengineering approaches which have been used to monitor contractile and ciliary

Simulation of oviductal ovum transport

Canadian Journal of Physiology and Pharmacology, 1977
The present note describes a Monte Carlo simulation of ovum transport in the rabbit oviduct. Ova execute a random walk through a one-dimensional oviduct and the jump probabilities at each point are obtained from in vitro electrical recordings of smooth muscle activity. Simulated transport are compared with experimental findings at 18 and 66–68 h after

Progesterone Receptors of Chick Oviduct

1978
The chick oviduct progesterone receptor has been purified to homogeneity by affinity chromatography and its molecular action studied in vitro. The native receptor is a 200,000 MW dimer of two dissimilar 4S subunits with different intranuclear function.

First oviduct transplants.

Acta Europaea fertilitatis, 1977
The first four cases of oviduct transplantation are described. In the first case, it consisted in the substitution of an oviduct that could not be recanalized after previous sterilization; two further patients had undergone salpingectomy for ectopic pregnancy, and one had been salpingectiomized for salpingitis.
