The reproductive system of the male and oviparous female of a model organism—the pea aphid, Acyrthosiphon pisum (Hemiptera, Aphididae) [PDF]

open access: yesPeerJ, 2019
The structure of the reproductive system of the sexual generation—males and oviparous females—of the pea aphid Acyrthosiphon pisum (Harris) (Hemiptera, Aphididae), a serious pest of cultivated plants of Fabaceae, was investigated.

On the structure of the seminal receptacle in cyclopids (Copepoda, Cyclopoida). [Translation from: Informatsionnyi Byulleten Biologiya Vnutrennikh Vod (6) 26-31, 1970.] [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
The seminal bag, or seminal receptacle, forms a characteristic organ of cyclopids, serving for retention of the sperms discharged from the spermatophores.

Bacterial communities of the oviduct of turkeys

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2022
AbstractBacterial communities in the reproductive tract of avian species play an important role in keeping birds healthy and encouraging growth. Infection can occur during egg formation with pathogens that can be transmitted to the embryo. In this study, we investigated the bacterial composition in the turkey reproductive tract using a taxa ...

Semaphorin 3E‐Plexin‐D1 Pathway Downstream of the Luteinizing Hormone Surge Regulates Ovulation, Granulosa Cell Luteinization, and Ovarian Angiogenesis in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The Semaphorin 3E (Sema3E)‐Plexin‐D1 pathway mediated by C/EBPα and C/EBPβ downstream of the luteinizing hormone (LH) surge plays important roles in the mouse preovulatory ovary. Timely activation and suppression of this pathway during the preovulatory stage are crucial for ovulation, corpus luteum formation, and proper angiogenesis.

Sterility in breeding sows as a consequence of reproductive tract diseases [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinarski Glasnik, 2002
In this paper we examined the effects of certain pathological conditions on the sterility of breeding sows. Pathomorphological investigations were performed on 185 reproductive organs. We analyzed the reasons for elimination from local records.

The Inconstant Oviduct

open access: yesBiology of Reproduction, 2016
During the estrous cycle, a rise in estrogen prior to ovulation alters the composition of the fluid in the oviduct to promote reproductive functions, according to a new study of this oftenoverlooked tissue [1]. As a result, embryos survive to travel successfully to the uterus. Many studies have established that estrogen helps mediate the receptivity of

A BLOCKING MECHANISM IN THE COW OVIDUCT [PDF]

open access: yesReproduction, 1962
A mechanism is present in the oviduct of the cow that prevents the escape of oviduct fluid into the uterus. Oviducts that were ligated at the ovarian end, soon after ovulation, become greatly distended with accumulated oviducal fluid. Distension remained until about 72 hr after ovulation and then receded.

LRRC4 Deficiency Drives Premature Ovarian Insufficiency by Disrupting Metabolic Homeostasis in Granulosa Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
LRRC4 deficiency disrupts the metabolic homeostasis of mitochondrial aerobic respiration and glycolysis during GC differentiation by inhibiting the ubiquitination‐mediated degradation of YAP, which ultimately leads to POI. These findings reveal the novel molecular etiology of POI and provide a promising target for prevention and treatment.

Expression of Nerve Growth Factor (NGF) and Its Receptors TrkA and p75 in the Reproductive Organs of Laying Hens

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Poultry Science, 2016
In order to investigate the expression levels of nerve growth factor (NGF) and its receptors (TrkA and p75) in prehierarchical follicles and oviducts of hens, five 130-day-old laying hens were examined by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR analysis. NGF and

A Video Bioinformatics Method to Quantify Cell Spreading and Its Application to Cells Treated with Rho-Associated Protein Kinase and Blebbistatin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Commercial software is available for performing video bioinformatics analysis on cultured cells. Such software is convenient and can often be used to create suitable protocols for quantitative analysis of video data with relatively little background in ...
