A Compositional Operational Semantics for OWL-S [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Software composition via workflow specifications has received a great deal of attention recently. One reason is the high degree of fit with the encapsulation of software modules in service-oriented fashion. In the Industry, existing workflow languages have been merged to form WS-BPEL, the Business Process Execution Language for Web Services.

The impact of urbanisation on social behaviour: a comprehensive review

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Urbanisation is a key driver of global environmental change and presents animals with novel stressors and challenges. It can fundamentally influence social behaviour and has the potential to reshape within‐ and between‐species social interactions. Given the role of social behaviour in reproductive fitness and survival, understanding how social

The impacts of biological invasions

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Anthropocene is characterised by a continuous human‐mediated reshuffling of the distributions of species globally. Both intentional and unintentional introductions have resulted in numerous species being translocated beyond their native ranges, often leading to their establishment and subsequent spread – a process referred to as biological

Beyond mammals: the evolution of chewing and other forms of oropharyngeal food processing in vertebrates

open access: yesBiological Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Oropharyngeal food processing exhibits a remarkable diversity among vertebrates, reflecting the evolution of specialised ‘processing centres’ associated with the mandibular, hyoid, and branchial arches. Although studies have detailed various food‐processing strategies and mechanisms across vertebrates, a coherent and comprehensive terminology ...

Performance Comparison between Semi‐Automated and Manual Cell Counting for Animal Cell Culture

open access: yesChemie Ingenieur Technik, EarlyView.
Following ISO 20391‐2:2019 guidelines, manual and semi‐automated cell counting performances were compared using validation parameters from ICH Q2(R1). Specificity, linearity, and repeatability served as key validation parameters in the evaluation of total cell density and cell viability of CHO‐K1 cells using trypan blue exclusion staining.
