Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Castration‐resistant prostate cancer cells are addicted to the high activity of cyclin‐dependent kinase 2

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that emergence of castration‐resistant prostate (CRPC) is associated with significant upregulation of cyclins that positively regulate cyclin‐dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) and concomitant downregulation of CDK4 cyclins. This renders CRPC cells dependent on the high activity of CDK2, and CDK2 inhibitors synergistically sensitize CRPC cells to both ...

A rational system of the own resources for the European Community

open access: yesEconomics and Business Review, 2005
A system of EC own resources needs a comprehensive reform because it does not correspond with the new reality of enlarged European Union (EU). The system analysis according to the own resources criteria in federal country proves that the present system of EC resources neither guarantees EC financial autonomy nor equity in taxation between Member States

Partial FAK suppression promotes tumor growth, an effect reversed by macrophage p110δ PI3K inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Partial inhibition of focal adhesion kinase (FAK) can paradoxically promote tumor growth, rather than simply producing a weaker antitumor effect than that observed with strong FAK suppression. In breast cancer and melanoma models, targeting p110δ PI3K, particularly in macrophages, counteracted these tumor‐promoting effects, highlighting the importance ...

Gut microbiota alterations in patients with non‐small‐cell lung cancer undergoing chemoradiotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We investigated the impact of concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on the gut microbiota in patients with locally advanced non‐small‐cell lung cancer. Overall gut microbiota composition remained largely stable throughout CRT while antibiotic exposure may influence microbial diversity.

Behind the sacred tree: local people and their natural resources sustain-ability

open access: yesReinwardtia, 2014
Local communities have their own means of maintaining their traditional know-ledge and sustaining the production system of natural resources by designating the resources as sacred.

Fostering Teachers’ Work Engagement: The Role of Emotional Self-Efficacy Toward One’s Own Emotions, Professional Self-Efficacy, and Job Resources

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Investigation in Health, Psychology and Education
The present cross-sectional study explored the synergic role of self-report measures of emotional self-efficacy toward one’s own emotions (i.e., the extent to which individuals perceive themselves as confident and effective in managing their emotions ...

NAPRT loss promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through AKT signaling independently of NAD+ biosynthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Loss of NAPRT promotes lung tumor initiation and growth through a noncanonical mechanism, independent of its role in NAD+ biosynthesis. Mechanistically, NAPRT depletion activates the mTORC2‐driven AKT/β‐catenin signaling axis to enhance clonogenic and invasive phenotypes. Furthermore, lung‐specific Naprt deletion significantly increases tumor burden in
