Metabarcoding of Pollen Carried by Syrphids Reveals Novel Plant–Pollinator Interactions in a Protected Natural Area and Agricultural Sites

Using DNA metabarcoding, this study investigates pollen transported by syrphids (Syrphidae) in the Dolomiti Bellunesi National Park and agricultural sites in Northern Italy. The analysis reveals a high diversity of visited plant taxa, including previously undocumented plant–pollinator interactions.

Countdown to extinction: Role of invasive wild boars in the population dynamics of the Yelkouan shearwater (Puffinus yelkouan) on Port‐Cros Island

Wild boars that have recently arrived in Port‐Cros National Park are reducing the reproductive success of Yelkouan shearwaters by destroying nests and predating on eggs and chicks. In the absence of measures to control the wild boar population, this would likely accelerate the decline of the Yelkouan shearwater population.

Annealing‐Induced Modifications in Yam Starches: Implications for Fermented Yam Flour (Elubo) and Textural Quality of Named Indigenous Yam Food Product—Amala

Processing yam tubers into elubo (fermented yam flour) induces starch annealing, which modifies starch functionality and pasting behavior. These changes significantly influence the textural quality of amala prepared from 55 varieties of two Dioscorea species (D. alata and D. rotundata).
