Ferroelectricity in Antiferromagnetic Wurtzite Nitrides

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We establish MnSiN2${\rm MnSiN}_2$ and MnGeN2${\rm MnGeN}_2$ as aristotypes of a new multiferroic wurtzite family that simultaneously exhibits ferroelectricity and antiferromagnetism with altermagnetic spin splitting. By strategically substituting alkaline‐earth metals, we predict new materials with coexisting switchable polarization, spin texture, and

Polarizable Vanadium Dipoles Promote Water Dissociation on Vanadium‐Based Metal Organic Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The polarization of unpaired V 3d electrons weakens the H─O bond to improve water dissociation by the dual Vδ+:O─H and Pλ−:H─O coupling hydrogen bonds formation and relaxation. P@V‐MOF electrocatalyst shows low overpotentials (94 mV in acid, 178 mV in neutral, and 77 mV in alkaline solutions) with excellent stability for effective overall water ...

Intermediate Resistive State in Wafer‐Scale Vertical MoS2 Memristors Through Lateral Silver Filament Growth for Artificial Synapse Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In MOCVD MoS2 memristors, a current compliance‐regulated Ag filament mechanism is revealed. The filament ruptures spontaneously during volatile switching, while subsequent growth proceeds vertically through the MoS2 layers and then laterally along the van der Waals gaps during nonvolatile switching.

Oxide Heterostructure Resistive Memory

Nano Letters, 2013
Resistive switching devices are widely believed as a promising candidate for future memory and logic applications. Here we show that by using multilayer oxide heterostructures the switching characteristics can be systematically controlled, ranging from unipolar switching to complementary switching and bipolar switching with linear and nonlinear on ...

Screening for Oxidative Resistance

2004
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the screening of amino acid for oxidative resistance. The oxidation of amino acid side chains in proteins has long been recognized as a primary pathway for functional inactivation. It is found that whether a protein drug targeted for intracellular action or an enzyme formulated into laundry detergent ...

Oxidation-Resistant Gold-55 Clusters

Science, 2002
Gold nanoparticles ranging in diameter from 1 to 8 nanometers were prepared on top of silicon wafers in order to study the size dependence of their oxidation behavior when exposed to atomic oxygen. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy showed a maximum oxidation resistance for “magic-number” clusters containing 55 gold atoms.

Oxidation resistance of biodiesel

Russian Journal of Applied Chemistry, 2017
Oxidation resistance of biodiesel synthesized by ester interchange of vegetable oil and animal fat triglycerides with methanol was studied. When stored under common conditions (in the dark at 20–25°С), the biodiesel is stable for no less than a year. However, the thermal oxidation resistance of biodiesel is low.
