Rate-limiting step analysis of the microbial desulfurization of dibenzothiophene in a model oil system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
A mechanistic analysis of the various mass transport and kinetic steps in the microbial desulfurization of dibenzothiophene (DBT) by Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8 in a model biphasic (oil–water), small-scale system was performed.

Unburned Carbon in Coal Fly Ash: Exploring Its Potential for Electrochemical Energy Storage in Supercapacitors

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 4, April 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates a circular waste to value pathway in which coal fly ash is upgraded by isolating unburned carbon and converting it into functional carbon materials. Through carbonization and activation, UC‐derived carbon is transformed into high surface area electrodes for supercapacitors, supporting sustainable energy storage and ...

Extending Catalytic Oxidative Desulfurization to All Types of Fuels Via Oxidative Desulfurization - Steam Assisted (ODESSA) Process

open access: yes, 2023
This dissertation attempts to extend the novel concept of Oxidative Desulfurization, invented during the late 90s, to fuels heavier than light naphtha, which was the initial most promising application. As a result, herein it is presented a novel process for desulfurization of hydrocarbon fuels in general, including heavier fuels such as Diesel and ...

Dual Redox Behavior of Mitochondria‐Targeting Antioxidant: Prooxidant Activity Through Light‐Induced Redox Active Triplet State

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 4, April 2026.
In mammalian cells, mitochondria targeting charge neutral molecule (compound 1) shows antioxidant properties in dark but becomes prooxidant in presence of visible light to induce apoptosis. Mechanistic investigations reveal that upon light irradiation compound 1 leads to ultrafast triplet state formation.
