PROCESSING OF SUNFLOWER HUSK BY OXIDATIVE TORREFACTION

open access: yeschemistry of plant raw material, 2022
The paper presents for the first time an experimental study of the processing of sunflower husk pellets by oxidative torrefaction inside a kaolin chamotte layer. The process temperature was 280 °C, which contributed to significant changes in the chemical composition, thermal properties and morphology of plant biomass.

Biomass Potassium Impregnation Effect on Oxidative Torrefaction

open access: yes, 2021
Oxidative torrefaction, along with non-oxidative torrefaction, is a mild pyrolysis process usually carried out between 200 and 300 °C aiming to increase energy content, the hydrophobicity, and grindability of biomass. Pursuing advances in the torrefaction treatment for energy cost-saving, torrefaction can be performed with flue gases containing a ...

Studies of ignition behaviour of biomass particles in a down-fire reactor for improving co-firing performance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
To realize large percentage biomass co-firing with coal in existing coal-fired boilers, the combustion behaviour of biomass is expected to be similar or comparable to that of coal. When co-firing with coal, biomass is not necessarily to be ground as fine

Kinetics mechanism of inert and oxidative torrefaction of biomass

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Management, 2022
Torrefaction of biomass is a promising pre-treatment process capable of substantially improving the properties of raw biomass for its use as a solid biofuel, among many other potential applications. Oxygen-lean torrefaction can effectively reduce the cost and complexity of inert torrefaction.
