Thermodynamic database for multicomponent oxide systems

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta, 2018
A state-of-the-art thermodynamic database has been developed for multicomponent oxide systems. It can be used in combination with FactSage software to calculate the properties of metallurgical slags, glasses, ceramics, refractories, minerals, cements ...

Insight into the high-temperature tribological mechanism of VAlTiCrW high entropy alloy film: AlV3O9 from tribochemistry

open access: yesFriction, 2022
High-entropy alloys have made significant progress in high mechanical properties, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance properties. Excellent tribological properties, especially high-temperature lubrication, have become another sought performance. In

Hematopoietic (stem) cells—The elixir of life?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The aging of HSCs (hematopoietic stem cells) and the blood system leads to the decline of other organs. Rejuvenating aged HSCs improves the function of the blood system, slowing the aging of the heart, kidney, brain, and liver, and the occurrence of age‐related diseases.

Cu2O and Au/Cu2O Particles: Surface Properties and Applications in Glucose Sensing

open access: yesSensors, 2012
In this work we investigated the surface and facet-dependent catalytic properties of metal oxide particles as well as noble metal/metal oxide heterogeneous structures, with cuprous oxide (Cu2O) and Au/Cu2O being selected as model systems.

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells enhances bortezomib sensitivity in multiple myeloma cells by altering their metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Effect of Multilayer Cr/CrN Coatings Deposited by Magnetron Sputtering on the Thermal Stability and High-Temperature Steam Oxidation Resistance of Zirconium Alloy E110

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The effect of the multilayer structure of Cr/CrN coatings deposited by reactive magnetron sputtering on zirconium alloy E110 (Zr–1Nb) on their thermal stability and resistance to steam oxidation at 1100 °C was studied.
