Understanding of failure mechanisms of the oxide scales formed on nanocrystalline coatings with different Al content during cyclic oxidation

, 2020
Cyclic oxidation behaviors of three nanocrystalline coatings with phase constitutions of γ/γʹ, single γʹ, and γʹ/β, respectively, tailored by adjusting the Al content, are investigated.

Characterization of graphene oxide/ZrO2 composite coatings deposited on zirconium alloy by micro-arc oxidation

, 2020
ZrO2 coatings combined with graphene oxide (GO) was prepared on N36 zirconium (Zr) alloy by micro-arc oxidation (MAO) technique. MAO coating shows a typical volcano-like structures with pores and cracks.

Thermophoretic Coating with Molybdenum Oxide Nanoparticles

Chemical Engineering & Technology, 2012
AbstractThermophoretic and electrophoretic coatings are the main viable mechanisms for the coating of objects with nanoparticles. Unlike electrophoretic coating, thermophoretic coating has the advantage that electrically conductive substrates are not a requirement. This paper investigates the thermophoretic deposition and uniformity of molybdenum oxide

Phosphorylcholine Coating of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 1999
In order to develop thin-walled superparamagnetic nanoparticle suspensions as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging, phosphorylcholine PC was used to coat iron oxide cores of 5 nm. Weak stable positively charged suspensions can be obtained at concentration greater than 3 mmol.l-1 (corresponding to about 3.2 molecules per nm2), while the ...

On the oxidation of the silicon bond coat in environmental barrier coatings

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 2021
Abstract Deal and Grove’s formulation is applied to model the oxidation of the silicon bond coat in environmental barrier coatings. The approach is similar to the author’s previous study, except now the oxidant is assumed to flow through the coating as ions via vacancy diffusion. The use of an “effective permeability” of the oxidant in the coating is

Germanium-oxide-coated carbon nanotubes

Nanotechnology, 2009
An ultrathin coating of individual multi-wall carbon nanotubes with germanium oxide was developed. Coated carbon nanotubes were prepared by in situ gelation of tetramethoxy germanium, forming an amorphous germanium oxide layer. The resulting germanium oxide/carbon nanotube nanocables were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), TEM ...

Chemical activation of the oxide-coated cathode

1955 International Electron Devices Meeting, 1955
Radioactive tracer technique applied to studies of the chemical activation of oxide cathodes show that the process is controlled by diffusion of reducing agents in the base nickel. A correlation will be demonstrated between the rate of reduction of the oxide coating and the pulse emission from the cathodes.

Oxide Coated Cathodes

1948
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses some of the recent oxide cathode researches to reexamine certain of the earlier publications to ascertain whether the experimental results are consistent with the modern theory of semiconductors and suggest new experiments which may lead to a complete understanding of the oxide coated cathode.
