Polydispersity of regenerated alkali celluloses during oxidative degradation

Acta Polymerica, 1991
AbstractThe molecular weight distribution of cellulose samples for viscose preparation, alkalized in various ways, was determined by size exclusion chromatography using diluted cadoxen as the solvent. In this solvent the degraded and extremely unreactive alkalized samples with cellulose II structure were directly soluble.

Bioactivity of Small Intestinal Submucosa and Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose/Collagen

Advances in Skin & Wound Care, 2008
This study examined the bioactivity of porcine small intestinal submucosa (SIS Wound Matrix [SISWM], USP) and oxidized regenerated cellulose/collagen (ORC).Bioactivity was assessed in vitro as the ability to stimulate neurite outgrowth in rat pheochromocytoma (PC12) cells, proliferation of human fibroblasts, secretion of vascular endothelial growth ...

Safety of Oxidized Regenerated Cellulose and Gelatin Sponge Application in Thyroidectomy.

World Journal of Surgery
Cohort study of 777 patients (1238 sides at risk) shows that both oxidized regenerated cellulose and gelatin sponge (topical hemostatic agents) are safe to use in thyroidectomy.

Carbon nanotube-modified oxidized regenerated cellulose gauzes for hemostatic applications

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2018
Functionalized carbon nanotubes have recently received interest because of their unique properties, especially in the biomedical field. In this research, unmodified multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs), and functionalized carbon nanotubes with amino groups (MWCNTs-NH2) and carboxyl groups (MWCNTs-COOH) were grafted to oxidized regenerated cellulose ...

TEMPO Electromediated Oxidation of Some Polysaccharides Including Regenerated Cellulose Fiber

Biomacromolecules, 2010
Curdlan, amylodextrin, and regenerated cellulose fiber were subjected to electromediated oxidation with a 4-acetamido-TEMPO catalyst in a buffer at pH 6.8 without NaClO or NaClO(2). More than 90% of the C6 primary hydroxyls of Curdlan and amylodextrin were converted to sodium carboxylate groups by this method.

Oxidation of regenerated cellulose with nitrogen dioxide/carbon tetrachloride

Fibers and Polymers, 2012
This paper explores the influence of oxidation time on selective oxidation of regenerated cellulose with NO2/CCl4 as oxidation system. FTIR and other testing methods are used to characterize the structure of oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC), showing that the regenerated cellulose is oxidized at C6 by the NO2/CCl4 system with extremely high ...

Investigation on degradation and stability of oxidized regenerated cellulose

Fibers and Polymers, 2012
The selective oxidation of nitrogen dioxide in CCl4 for regenerated cellulose to C6 oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) was proved using FTIR and NMR, and the ORC were dried under three different conditions, including vacuum-dried at high temperature, air-dried at room temperature and frozen-dried at low temperature. The degrees of polymerization (DP)

Oxidized regenerated cellulose-based hemostat with microscopically gradient structure

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2012
Abstract Partially water-soluble oxidized regenerated cellulose carboxylate sodium (ORC-Na) materials have been prepared by controlled neutralizing oxidized generated cellulose (ORC). The carboxyl were converted into sodium carboxylate as evidenced by FT-IR, and carboxyl content decreased from 18.41% to 0.98%, with enhancing water solubility of ORC ...

Oxidation and structural changes in NMMO-regenerated cellulose films

Cellulose, 2016
Carbonyl and carboxyl groups introduced by oxidative processes during production and purification of celluloses determine intra- and intermolecular interactions and thus application-related bulk and surface properties of cellulosic materials. We report a comprehensive approach to the quantification of carboxyl and carbonyl groups in cellulose films ...

The effect of oxidized regenerated cellulose on experimental infected splenotomies

Journal of Surgical Research, 1977
Abstract An experimental model is described in which two splenotomy sites are made in the spleen. In one site oxidized regenerated cellulose (ORC) was placed, in the other absorbable gelatin sponge (AGS). The animals were then challenged intravenously and the number of organisms from the splenotomy sites was measured over a period of time. The number
