Radiation modelling in oxy-fuel combustion scenarios
International Journal of Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2009Three gray models for the radiative properties of gases were examined for their usage in oxy-combustion simulations of a full scale boiler with flue gas recycle. Fully coupled computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulations of a full scale boiler were carried out employing the weighted-sum-of-gray-gases model (WSGGM) at air burn, dry-recycle and wet ...

The growing need for a means of rapidly melting scrap in steelmaking practice is briefly discussed. The Shell Toroidal burner designed for melting such cold charges is described, and its application to open-hearth furnaces and Fuel-Oxygen-Scrap (FOS) furnaces is discussed.

CFD Simulation of a Turbulent Oxy-Fuel Flame
2010The problem of pollutant emissions from combustion devices is moving the attention towards the development of new combustion technologies. In this context, oxy-fuel combustion, in which the fuel is fed with an oxygen-enriched gas mixture instead of air, represents a promising solution.

Thermal radiation in oxy-fuel flames
International Journal of Greenhouse Gas Control, 2011This work investigates thermal radiation in oxy-fuel flames, based on experiments and modelling. Experiments were conducted in a 100 kW test facility in air and oxy-fuel combustion atmospheres, using two different types of fuels, lignite and propane. In-flame measurements of gas composition, temperature and total radiation intensity, were performed and

Oxy-fuel gases and the working of steel
Production Engineer, 1976The formidable techniques of gas-cutting low-alloy steels has been widely used since the early 1900's, but the most important technological advances for fast, efficient cutting with machines are still new to many engineers. This is the second of two articles—the first was published in the Production Engineer in February this year—in which the ...

Steam-moderated oxy-fuel combustion
Energy Conversion and Management, 2010Abstract The objective of the present paper is to propose a new variant of the oxy-fuel combustion for carbondioxide (CO2) sequestration in which steam is used to moderate the flame temperature. In this process, pure oxygen is mixed with steam and the resulting oxidant mixture is sent to the boiler for combustion with a fossil fuel.

High velocity oxy-fuel spraying
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2004Abstract New peak technology among glow sprayings is High Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF). In our country the unique device HP/HVOF TAFA JP–500 was installed for layers manufactured by this technology. Layers prepared by this system belong to the best ones in this time.

Oxy-fuel Combustion Capture Technology
2019This chapter discusses oxy-fuel combustion for the capture and subsequent sequestration of carbon dioxide. Technologies for oxygen production based on air separation will be presented and the need to reduce energy consumption of these units will be discussed along with some potential strategies.

Carbonation of Fly Ash in Oxy-fuel CFB Combustion
Fuel, 2007Oxy-fuel combustion of fossil fuel is one of the most promising methods to produce a stream of concentrated CO2 ready for sequestration. Oxy-fuel FBC (fluidized bed combustion) can use limestone as a sorbent for in situ capture of sulphur dioxide. Limestone will not calcine to CaO under typical oxy-fuel circulating FBC (CFBC) operating temperatures ...
