A Compact Hollow Fiber Electrode Assembly Architecture for Continuous Electrochemical Marine Carbon Dioxide Removal

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
A coaxial, membrane‐integrated hollow fiber electrode assembly (HFEA) is developed for continuous marine carbon mineralization. By utilizing a sub‐millimeter inter‐electrode gap, the HFEA minimizes Ohmic losses, achieving 50% energy reduction and over 85% DIC removal.

Development of High-efficiency Oxy-fuel IGCC System

open access: yesEnergy Procedia, 2016
Coal is regarded as important fuel because of its stable supply and low price, but coal is blamed for its CO2 emission. Japanese utilities are making efforts to improve thermal efficiency and to expand biomass co-firing. On the other hand, CCS technologies are under development as a countermeasure for global warming and demonstration projects planned ...

Joule self‐heating enabled oxygen transport and coupled methane reactions in a La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3‐δ hollow fiber membrane reactor

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Mixed‐conducting ceramic hollow fiber membranes are a versatile platform for oxygen separation, value‐added chemical production, and oxy‐combustion. Because oxygen permeation is thermally activated, these systems typically rely on bulky, energy‐intensive furnaces that suffer from low efficiency and large thermal inertia.
