The Influence of Formulation, Buffering, pH and Divalent Cations on the Activity of Endothall on Hydrilla. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Endothall has been used as an aquatic herbicide for more than 40 years and provides very effective weed control of many weeds. Early research regarding the mechanism-of-action of endothall contradicts the symptomology normally associated with the ...

First-principles computational study of defect clustering in solid solutions of ThO$_{2}$ with trivalent oxides

open access: yes, 2010
The energetics of mixing and defect ordering in solid solutions of fluorite-structured ThO$_{2}$ with oxides of trivalent cations (Sc, In, Y, Nd, La) are investigated by electronic density-functional-theory (DFT).

Combined 5‐aminolevulinic acid and ferric ammonium citrate treatment promotes hair follicle growth by activating dermal papilla cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
5‐Aminolevulinic acid combined with ferric ammonium citrate (5‐ALA/FAC) stimulates dermal papilla cell activity and promotes hair follicle growth. The treatment enhances ERK and AKT signaling, increases hair‐inductive gene expression, and restores dermal papilla function suppressed by dihydrotestosterone and oxidative stress, resulting in enhanced hair

Effect of Gd and Ti co-doping on electrical performance of Bi2O3 oxygen ion conductor

open access: yesMaterials Research Express, 2022
In this study, a new oxygen ion conductor electrolyte material with high conductivity was reported. Bi _2 O _3 was co-doped with Gd _2 O _3 and TiO _2 by solid-phase synthesis method to obtain Bi _1–3x Gd _2x Ti _x O _1.5+ _δ and Bi _0.76 Gd _0.18−x Ti ...

Lattice Relaxation and Charge-Transfer Optical Transitions Due to Self-Trapped Holes in Non-Stoichiometric LaMnO$_3$ Crystal

open access: yes, 2001
We use the Mott-Littleton approach to evaluate polarisation energies in LaMnO$_3$ lattice associated with holes localized on both Mn$^{3+}$ cation and O$^{2-}$ anion. The full (electronic and ionic) lattice relaxation energy for a hole localized at the O-

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Oxygen-ion and proton conductivity in the Ba3InGa2O7.5 complex oxide with incomplete oxygen sublattice

open access: yesChimica Techno Acta
The Ba3InGa2O7.5 complex oxide, possessing the perovskite-related structure with structural oxygen vacancies, was first synthesized by the solid state method. The phase was found to be characterized by monoclinic symmetry (sp. gr.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Exhaustive Study of Electrical Conductivity in the MNb2−x TixO6–0.5x (M = Mg, Ca, Zn; x = 0, 0.1, 0.2) Columbites

open access: yesECS Advances
The CaNb _2 O _6 and ZnNb _2 O _6 columbites (Sp.gr. Pbcn ) were studied as oxygen ion conductors both theoretically and experimentally. A theoretical approach included geometrical-topological analysis, bond valence site energy (BVSE) and density ...

Space–charge theory applied to the grain boundary impedance of proton conducting BaZr0.9Y0.1O3−δ. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The specific grain interior and grain boundary conductivities, obtained from impedance spectroscopy and the brick layer model, are reported for BaZr0.9Y0.1O3−δ as a function of pO2 and temperature. pO2-dependencies were indicative of dominating ionic and
