EVOLUTION OF ATMOSPHERIC OXYGEN

2003
Abundant free oxygen in the atmosphere distinguishes our planet from all others in the solar system. Earth’s oxygen-rich atmosphere is a direct result of life. The current atmosphere contains (by volume) 78.09% N2, 20.95% O2, 0.93% Ar, 0.036% CO2, and additional trace gases.

Oxygen evolution on La0.5Ba0.5CoO3

Journal of Electroanalytical Chemistry and Interfacial Electrochemistry, 1981
Abstract Impedance measurements were performed on the oxygen evolution at rotating disk electrodes of La 0.5 Ba 0.5 CoO 3 in 6 M KOH at room temperature. Differential Tafel slopes of near 60 mV per decade were found; the differential, (ac) capacitance showed a maximum around 200 mV overpotential.

Evolution of Oxygenic Photosynthesis

2017
This chapter discusses the evolution of oxygen-producing organisms by considering the evolution and assembly of its basic constituent parts. It focuses on the following key questions: (1) What is the evolutionary history of chlorophyll? (2) What are the evolutionary histories of photosystem I and photosystem II (PSII)?
