Reversible perovskite electrocatalysts for oxygen reduction/oxygen evolution

open access: yesChemical Science, 2019
Reversible (bi-functional) ORR/OER electrocatalysts identified with the creation of mixed valent Mn perovskites and the Mn3+/Mn4+ surface redox couple.

Integration of circadian and hypoxia signaling via non‐canonical heterodimerization

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CLOCK, BMAL1, and HIFs are basic helix‐loop‐helix and Per‐Arnt‐Sim domain (bHLH‐PAS) proteins, which function as transcription factors. bHLH‐PAS proteins are designated in two classes. Many class I proteins are regulated by environmental signals via their PAS domains, but such signals have not been identified for all.

Fourier transform infrared difference spectroscopy for studying the molecular mechanism of photosynthetic water oxidation

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2013
The photosystem II reaction center mediates the light-induced transfer of electrons from water to plastoquinone, with concomitant production of O2. Water oxidation chemistry occurs in the oxygen-evolving complex (OEC), which consists of an inorganic ...

Effects of Novel Photosynthetic Inhibitor [CuL2]Br2 Complex on Photosystem II Activity in Spinach

open access: yesCells, 2022
The effects of the novel [CuL2]Br2 complex (L = bis{4H-1,3,5-triazino [2,1-b]benzothiazole-2-amine,4-(2-imidazole)}copper(II) bromide complex) on the photosystem II (PSII) activity of PSII membranes isolated from spinach were studied.

OH spectral evolution of oxygen-rich late-type stars

open access: yes, 2004
We investigated the main-line spectral evolution with shell thickness of oxygen rich AGB stars. The study is based on a sample of 30 sources distributed along the IRAS colour-colour diagram.

Water Splitting Reaction at Polar Lithium Niobate Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Water splitting is a highly promising, environmentally friendly approach for hydrogen production. It is often discussed in the context of carbon dioxide free combustion and storage of electrical energy after conversion to chemical energy.

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

Functional Expression of Gloeobacter Rhodopsin in PSI-Less Synechocystis sp. PCC6803

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2019
The approach of providing an oxygenic photosynthetic organism with a cyclic electron transfer system, i.e., a far-red light-driven proton pump, is widely proposed to maximize photosynthetic efficiency via expanding the absorption spectrum of ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
