DNA methylation and expression of MAPRE3 affect overall survival of early‐stage non‐small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Both cg12821679MAPRE3 methylation and MAPRE3 expression are significantly associated with overall survival (OS) of non‐small cell lung cancer. Meanwhile, MAPRE3 expression significantly modified the effect of smoking cessation on OS. Smoking cessation benefits OS merely for patients with high MAPRE3 expression.

Electric-field-assisted proton coupling enhanced oxygen evolution reaction

open access: yesNature Communications
The discovery of Mn-Ca complex in photosystem II stimulates research of manganese-based catalysts for oxygen evolution reaction (OER). However, conventional chemical strategies face challenges in regulating the four electron-proton processes of OER ...

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

The (In)Stability of Heterostructures During the Oxygen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials
AbstractThe urgent need for efficient oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts has led to the development and publication of many heterostructured catalysts. The application of such catalysts with multiple phases tremendously increases the material design dimensions, and numerous interface‐related effects can tune the OER performance.

A novel quinazolinone insulin receptor inhibitor and its synergy with an EGFR inhibitor in glucose‐driven glioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The novel styrylquinazolinone‐based molecule W1B effectively suppresses glioblastoma by inhibiting IGF1R and EGFR. In high‐glucose microenvironments driving tumor resistance, W1B acts synergistically with the EGFR inhibitor dacomitinib. This combination safely blocks compensatory survival signaling in zebrafish xenograft models. Showcasing promising in

The current state of transition metal-based electrocatalysts (oxides, alloys, POMs, and MOFs) for oxygen reduction, oxygen evolution, and hydrogen evolution reactions

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research
Climate change is showing its impacts now more than ever. The intense use of fossil fuels and the resulting CO2 emissions are mainly to blame, accentuating the need to develop further the available energy conversion and storage technologies, which are ...

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Efficient electrocatalysts derived from praseodymium-doped MOFs and MXene for oxygen reduction, hydrogen evolution, and oxygen evolution reactions

open access: yesCarbon Trends
In response to the urgent need for high-performance non-precious metal electrocatalysts to address the energy crisis and reduce dependence on fossil fuels, we propose a novel approach to develop a highly selective and efficient electrocatalyst derived ...
