ABSTRACT Background Limited data exist on cardiocirculatory responses associated with extended periods of apnea during administration of high‐flow nasal oxygen for laryngologic surgery (apneic oxygenation with HFNO, AO‐HFNO). The possibility of hemodynamic compromise in the settings of acute hypercapnia, respiratory acidosis, hyperoxia, and IV ...

Supplementation of pre‐oxygenation in morbidly obese patients using nasopharyngeal oxygen insufflation [PDF]
Summary During apnoea following induction of anaesthesia, morbidly obese patients may suffer a rapid decrease in oxygen saturation. This study compares pre‐oxygenation alone with pre‐oxygenation followed by nasopharyngeal oxygen insufflation on the onset of desaturation occurring during the subsequent apnoea.

Summary Introduction Postoperative pulmonary complications after upper gastrointestinal endoscopic procedures under general anaesthesia are clinically important and may be exacerbated by residual neuromuscular block. We evaluated whether antagonism of neuromuscular block with sugammadex rather than neostigmine is associated with improved respiratory ...

Esophageal insufflations during nasal pressure support ventilation in quiet and active sleep.
Two successive periods of quiet and active sleep in the same lamb are represented. The most frequent pattern of esophageal insufflation and EAta recording is illustrated.

Oxygen: problems and solutions in electrochemistry [PDF]
Different aspects of the electrochemistry of oxygen are examined through four experimental examples: corrosion, passivation via organic thin films, oxygen reduction and water oxidation catalysis are outlined in order to outline the very different ...

Introduction High-velocity nasal insufflation (HVNI) is a type of high-flow nasal cannula that depends on the dead-space clearance. HVNI utilizes small-bore nasal cannulae resulting in high velocity flow greater than the flow of the wider bore cannulae ...

SURGELLA: A Scoping Review of Impella‐Assisted Hemodynamic Support in High‐Risk Non‐Cardiac Surgery
In selected patients with severe LV dysfunction, Impella‐supported non‐cardiac surgery may provide a temporary hemodynamic bridge to otherwise prohibitive procedures. Published evidence remains limited to a small number of highly selected cases, supporting technical feasibility rather than comparative benefit or generalizable safety.

Clinical and surgical findings in a mare with unilateral ovarian fibroleiomyoma and adhesions
Summary This case report describes the clinical presentation, ultrasonographic findings, surgical management and outcome of a 7‐year‐old Warmblood mare presented for recurrent colic, weight loss and poor performance. Rectal palpation identified a firm mass in the left caudal abdomen, which appeared on ultrasonography as a large, fluid‐filled, cyst‐like
