Abstract Oxygen isotopic fractionation among the major mineral phases of Shergotty corresponds to a temperature of last equilibration of about 1100°C. There are no large departures from equilibrium due to metamorphism, shock, or retrograde exchange.

The properties of the oxygen isotopes provide diverse examples of progress made in experiments and theory. This chain of isotopes has been studied from beyond the proton drip line in [Formula: see text]O to beyond the neutron drip line in [Formula: see text]O.

Isotopic analysis of oxygen in water
The International Journal of Applied Radiation and Isotopes, 1958Abstract A semimicro method for the oxidation of water to oxygen for mass spectrometry has been developed. Water samples of 25–100 mg are oxidized by bromine in alkaline solution in presence of cobaltic oxide. I HAVE recently been studying the vibrational energy functions of molecules, in connexion with a recalculation of heats of dissociation, and have noticed that the equation given by Dieke and Babcock (Proc. Nat. Acad. Sci., 13, 670; 1927) for the upper level of the atmospheric bands of oxygen has an unusually large coefficient for the n3 term.

Isotopic and trace element analysis of zircons can provide reliable and robust estimates of age, compositions of coexisting minerals and melts, and constraints on the genesis and protoliths of host rocks. Recent technological developments facilitate analysis of oxygen isotope ratios in zircon with high accuracy and precision by laser heating/gas-source

Abstract Natural silicates vary in their O18/O16ratios by as much as 2–4%. This difference is largely due to an exchange reaction between silica and water during the processes of erosion and sedimentation, as a result of which sedimentary rocks are richer in O18 than are the igneous rocks. The temperature coefficient for the silica-water exchange has
